Can someone tell me - 1) what it is, and 2) why I should care?

It's a big fundraiser for the Met where the 1% and The Celebs all get together to see and be seen under the pretense of funding the arts. You're not a woman or gay, so you don't have to care about any of this. AOC, who is normally kind of a sourpuss, was at the Met Gala a few years ago and looked radiant, ebullient, happier than I've ever seen her in her entire life because she got to be with The Celebs.

The Met Gala is also where this classic couple made their public debut, a pairing that would one day yield The Kevlar Kid:

AOC at the Met isn’t spoken about often, but it was hilarious, borderline satire.

I don't think I'm a gala type of guy.

It's also a weird picture of her. It makes her look like the 4-armed doctor in one of the Andor epsisodes.

I saw a video in which she looked completely stoned.

I respect her for letting herself age like a normal person. Better than having way too much work done on her face and turning into a Guilfoyle gargoyle.

It’s honestly not bad for a person of her age. Don’t let the bangs and lack of makeup fool you.

Seems an obvious doctored photo. I have no idea what she looks like, but I bet it isn't that.

She let the heavy makeup go and had a makeover a few years ago. I think she looked great here.
