Now that it can claim Chicago’s most famous native son as its own how far does it climb? I dunno much about the S Suburbs at all. A bit of experience with NW Indiana but that part of the area is a black hole to me. |

A fact: you can claim to be from the city even if you went to HS in the burbs if you a) were born in the city and b) achieve. It’s just true, the way it is. |

I spent a great deal of time in my childhood in the city with my cousins segregated. I spent the rest at home in a 'suburb' desegregated. It was pretty great. I could be racist all summer and hoop all spring, fall, and winter. |

It was going to go from La Salle Street to Balmoral Park, would have hit South Holland, Glenwood, Chicago Heights, few other towns along the way. The trackage is already there; I think it's what Amtrak uses for service to Champaign and Kankakee. I'm guessing a lot of it would have been redundant with the Electric, and Balmoral Park is gone now anyway. |
