This was a list of the most hallowed records still long standing in all of sports. I'd like to hear what the respected members of this board (not you darkside) think holds the most value.

The poll was supposed to have Dan Marino's TD record of 420 which is going to be passed this year by Favre and the record for no hitters in a career by Nolan Ryan with 7.

None of the above.

Wayne Gretzky's 2,857 points. Never going to be touched. If Gretz never scored any of his 894 goals, he'd still have more assists than anyone else has points (goals and assists combined).

I dont really consider sports to be religion and the use of that word when it comes to records is a bit annoying to me. Bill Russell's 11 rings is the one that will NEVER be broken, even Joe's record might be broken some day

I think Farve is on track to get the most interceptions title too.

I think my record of 46 jerk off in a single day is a respectable record. 'Course, there was nothing but dry heaves after 7 or 8 but hell!

I voted DiMaggio but Rooney's right, it's missing some items.

No, the polls are never right.

Ask Al Gore.

My answer to auto racing as a sport would be that you have direct contact with the opponent whereas in golf you play against somebody's score.

But, you could also say in auto racing you're playing against someone else's "score" (time)

By direct contact do you mean because they can actually hit each other or because they run on the same track?

What about match play golf? They are in direct competition with each other.

you got me on the match play but how often do they play that way and they do not play that for PGA championships. You are playing against somebody elses time in nascar but the other drivers can affect your outcome whereas golf its just you and the elements.

i thought Petty's was one of the most impressive considering the active leader is Gordon with only 79 wins.
