But how would you know the vote total before you made a vote? I sense a multiple identity subtext...

Please look at the last 3 games or so people. They are all very close! Rode Vann and Chus are also down to the wire here.

Can something be "down to the wire" if it never ends?

For any poll here, you can click on "View results" without voting and see the standings without placing a vote.

There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.

I've been a very good mood lately. This past weekend was the All Star game for the weekend baseball league that I play in and I was named the starting shortstop for my team. The game was at Alexian Field, where the Schaumburg Flyers play. Normally, I don't take these games too seriously because I don't want to turn into one of those guys who treat rec league games like they're the end all be all and everybody thinks they're an asshole. But there's something about playing on a nice field, in front of a crowd (only a couple hundred, but still) that had my adrenaline pumping.
I only had two at bats. In the first inning, I had a two out RBI single to drive in the first run for our team. My second at bat, perhaps my adrenaline got the best of me as I swung at the first pitch and popped up to third.
But what has me in the good mood is a couple of plays that I made defensively. In the second inning, I went in the hole at short and gloved the ball with my weight on my right foot and flung the ball to second all in one motion, to start a 6-4-3 double play to get us out of an inning. It was big league. In the 3rd inning, the other team had 1st and 2nd with one out. They hit a ball into the gap that are centerfielder dove for and missed. The left fielder was there to back him up, though, and through a strike to me. All I heard was "four, four, four!" so I caught, turned, and fired home all in one motion. I threw an absolute seed that hit the catcher right in the chest to nail the runner at home. Then, about a second later, he tagged the guy trying to score from first! Because our CF dove for the ball, the guy that was on second had to hold up. The guy on 1st was running the whole time. They both thought they would score easy. They were wrong 8) . On the way into the dugout, there were high fives all around. It felt like I was in college again.
I'm not writing this to toot my own horn. If I wanted to do that, I would say that I have some size in my pants, or something like that  . I just wanted to tell a quick story of something that brought me a lot of joy over the weekend. I don't often go into details about my personal life (lesson learned, after the Vegas fiasco), but thought for my 2000th post I could let some of you in on what makes Bulldog Scott tick.
