The pwn3d thread about names got me thinking a few of the ones we have picked out might be dumb. What are your thoughts? Suggestions welcome.

I like the name Alex in general. I'm assuming the full name would be 'Alexandra' or something to that effect?

I love names for girls that can be shortened into "guys" names, i.e. Alex for Alexandra, Sam for Samantha, etc.

I like Payton and Alex- both gender neutral. Nicole reminds me of a blond twitty girlie girl. Kelly seems kinda vanilla, and Ashley seems very lacy and fru fru.
According to the Social Security Adm, Emily, Emma, Madison, Hannah and Sophia are on the top 10 lest.
But whatever you pick it will be great- she'll be posting here in a few years. What does Mr. Spaulding think about getting baby name advice from us??

So true.

I wouldn't have posted it if not for the "Chase" and names like it discussion. Payton started as a joke but we kind of want to use it now. I'm not sure how it will be received. I have a shitty name. It sucks to go through life with a shitty name and I don't want to do that to my daughter.

I have always found that both asking and answering this question leads to nothing but problems for me.

I'm right there with you. Alex is the clear winner here and the name that would be my #1 if I had a girl. Also like Payton a lot but am wondering if that's a super trendy name now and she'll have 20 classmates with the same name in a few years.

I don't like guys' names for girls. Too much confusion.

I'd go with "Spaulding."

Sorry, I can't be real objective here, but it is funny to watch my son (Alex) get pissed everytime he hears of a girl named Alex. I do wonder though how many puzzled expressions that will come over future teachers' faces when they look down the class roster and see that name.

And I voted for Alex. Payton I don't get, Kelly-for reasons noted above, and well Ashley/Nicole remind me of vacuous bubble heads of past years, cute but not all there.

Might as well name her Pearl or Margaret.

<Al Bundy voice> No Peg.</Al Bundy voice>

Actually, come to think of it, one of my favorite songs ever has "Margaret" in it's name.

Are you both reading the Bovine list of names?

I met a couple who named their child Payton for Walter, and actually liked it. I've said for a long time that any child of mine will have Montana incorporated into their name for my favorite player, so I would never begrudge someone else doing it. Plus, I think its a good name.

My generation has grandmothers named Rose, Esther, Edith, etc

How weird is it going to be when all of the Jennys, Pipers, LaNiquahs, etc are 65 or older?
