I took my young ones too, on the way to the sitter.
They almost started fighting at the polling place over Obama & Clinton.
Who would have thunk it, that an election can be this devisive to a 6 and 8 year old. People working the election got a big kick out of it.

Just out of curiosity. Whats the reason for those who selected no?

No school today?

Not at 6:15 in the morning. Even the old fart poll judges are nice at that hour.

There was a HUGE turnout at my polling place this morning--the wait was over 30 minutes to vote. Usually it's a ghost town for any election.

Is that one of those referendums where the choices are:

1) yes - to increase taxes with your permission
2) no - to increase taxes without your permission

Basically, yeah, that's pretty much it. If they don't get their referendum, they just raise my assessment value.

We live in America - there will be no crowds, there will be no "rush" - we just stay home, don't vote, then bitch about the people that everybody else voted for.

Beats what "my man Mitch" is doing here in Indiana, which is basically doing away with the property tax in favor of inefficient sales and income taxes. I guess as a non-property owner, I'm just not doing enough to raise property values for homeowners.

I will vote after work today. Voting is one of the rare things I take very seriously. When my kids are old enough to understand, I will let them know about the people who walked for miles to polling stations only to be turned away, threatened, or killed because of the color of their skin. And the great lengths that others have gone through to make sure they are able to have their (my children's) voices heard.

I'll get off of my soap box now...

Sure, but by the same token I could also fight Lennox Lewis if I wanted to, neither will turn out good for me.

Yes, I too feel it's important to exercise your right to be formally disenfranchised.

Does anyone have any philosphies on voting when you have no idea about any of the candidates?

I stay away from people who are obviously pandering. The most obvious example of this are judge candidates who register with several Irish surnames in their name. I also shy away from people who use nicknames.

If it is a toss up I also vote for Ray Wardingly as he is the clown (real clown) from the south side who gets his name on the ballot every year. The guy deserves to be thrown a bone once in a while.

Have you learned nothing the last 5 months? Change is the most important thing. I think that means vote out all incumbents.
