I took my young ones too, on the way to the sitter.
They almost started fighting at the polling place over Obama & Clinton.
Who would have thunk it, that an election can be this devisive to a 6 and 8 year old. People working the election got a big kick out of it.

Not at 6:15 in the morning. Even the old fart poll judges are nice at that hour.

There was a HUGE turnout at my polling place this morning--the wait was over 30 minutes to vote. Usually it's a ghost town for any election.

Beats what "my man Mitch" is doing here in Indiana, which is basically doing away with the property tax in favor of inefficient sales and income taxes. I guess as a non-property owner, I'm just not doing enough to raise property values for homeowners.

I will vote after work today. Voting is one of the rare things I take very seriously. When my kids are old enough to understand, I will let them know about the people who walked for miles to polling stations only to be turned away, threatened, or killed because of the color of their skin. And the great lengths that others have gone through to make sure they are able to have their (my children's) voices heard.

Does anyone have any philosphies on voting when you have no idea about any of the candidates?

I stay away from people who are obviously pandering. The most obvious example of this are judge candidates who register with several Irish surnames in their name. I also shy away from people who use nicknames.

If it is a toss up I also vote for Ray Wardingly as he is the clown (real clown) from the south side who gets his name on the ballot every year. The guy deserves to be thrown a bone once in a while.
