We know that this board is filled with bad sports thoughts. No offense Ugie. However, there are people who say even dumber stuff in real life and you can't give them a verbal beatdown because it's much more likely you get punched in the face in person rather than on a message board.

Yesterday, I overheard a man watching a basketball game saying "If you can score 100 points in a game it can't be that hard of a game". Enjoy your 0-0 tie in soccer and please leave the country.

Oh man, this is really bad during baseball season.

I hate it. I sometimes feel like an outcast for knowing a good amount about sports.

In baseball season some of the things said by old men who consider themselves experts is just terrible.

I dont want to correct them. I dont want them to discuss it. I just want to change the subject.

Actually listening to uneducated people speak on something you know very well is really annoying.

Just listen to hawk more and you will desensitize yourself to it and it won't even phase you anymore.

 That's how I sometimes feel about young guys who spend half the day at Fangraphs and start parroting back stuff the read there or at Baseball Prospectus without much actual thought about it.

I would have gone with the comment that any sport where only the last two minutes of the game matter and those last two minutes boil down to a free throw contest can't be a real sport.

True though. And Shaq sucked because he couldn't hit his free throws.

when Noah got the triple double a few weeks back a coworker was basically chiding him for not having gotten one before...his stance being that it should be easy for a center to get assists. then a week or so later he told me he just found out that Oklahoma City has an NBA team. yet he continues to try and talk basketball with me fairly routinely

What you are implying is the bad thought.

Most college athletes actually are students too.

Any sport that routinely has 1 or 2 man advantages that still end in zero scoring should not be considered a sport. Any real athletes would dominate with that sort of advantage.

I think most would consider baseball a sport.

A good pitcher can dominate 9 other guys and hold them to zero. Happens all the time.
