Last I heard, none of the major airlines were on board. Is this an "If you build it they will come" scenario? Heck, Midway only has a handful of airlines...who do they think will fill those gates? :?

No one wants a 3rd airport. Neither the state nor the city has the money or the backing to build a 3rd airport. None of the airlines support a 3rd airport. This is a grandstand move by J.J. JR.

Isn't the reason why the city doesn't want to support it is because it would be outside of city limits and they are against any competition?

many people want a third airport... the runways at midway can not handle huge aircraft...landing at midway is some scary shit...the only reason why this airport is stalled is because of jesse jackson jr.....not many people like him and want to do business with him..he will be federally indicted in the next 2 years..

Bulldoze Maywood and build it there. Or put a 4th airport there.

The "many people" are the political cronies hoping to make a buck (& lot's of them). Again, the airlines don't support it...without them it's a boondoggle.

O'Hare was in the middle of nowhere back in the day.

Poondoggle.

Yes, but Daley Sr. made sure that middle of nowhere was to be within Chicago city limits, connected by like a thread of Foster Avenue or whichever it is offhand I don't quite recall. I don't think the city can make that kind of power play now that the patchwork of suburbia is pretty much set.

Quote:
It is operated by the City of Chicago Department of Aviation. Most of O'Hare Airport is in Cook County, but a section of the southwest part of the airport is in DuPage County. The Cook County portion is allegedly located within a section of the city of Chicago contiguously connected to the rest of the city via a narrow strip of land about 200 feet (61 m) wide, running along Foster Ave. from the Des Plaines River to the airport.

This land was annexed into the city limits in the 1950s to assure the massive tax revenue associated with the airport being part of the city. The strip is bounded on the north by Rosemont and the south by Schiller Park.

That's probably true...thus the expansion of O'Hare gets pushed through by the younger Daley.

It was pretty sick that they were able to tear down part of Bensenville without the people's consent.

Any reason to take Bensenville off the map is a good one.

Victory Auto Wreckers is still there. I was there last week to find an automatic window switch for my Mom's '89 Caprice. I told my wife it's like an estate sale where you can bring tools so you don't have to haul the whole shitty dresser home to get the brass fixtures.

And they sell t-shirts. :thumleft:

No matter what happens to the ville of Bensen, Victory Auto Wreckers and the "awww, maaaaan, my caaaaar, maaaaaan" dude must live forever, preserved in amber like a Jurassic mosquito. I guess he can always drive over to Tile Outlet; I know Troll said he's pretty sure she'll let anyone park in the rear.

2444 W. Fullerton in Chicago, just 3 blocks west of the Kennedy Expressway. Tile Outlet!

I kind of like Bensenville. It has a lot of interesting small businesses and a gritty charm and socioeconomic diversity that seems less tense than other suburbs. I like West Chicago, too, for the same reasons.

You'd probably get $300 if you're lucky.

The airlines are all losing there asses. Fares have been increasing, & to be honest, the airlines need the $. The 3rd airport is a pipedream & JJ Jr is using it to make himself look like a job creater, when in reality, he is just another young politician who has no idea what the real world is like. Typical politician. No one wants a 3rd airport including the airlines.
