Anybody had it done before? Anyone got a "guy"? My mother had hers done but I don't remember who she had come do it, and apparently either does she.

I also think she paid around $250 or so but I can't remember, either way, any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, even the unfunny ones.

It work's fine if prepped correctly. There is also a paint product sold through Sherwin-Williams which allows you to coat it yourself if you're looking to save some money (again - prep is key). There is even a spray can version which works fine if it's a minor update (not a complete color change).

Thanks!

And by prepped correctly, what exactly do you mean? I'm sure I can google this but any information would be helpful. I don't plan on doing a color change, the tub is currently white, and I have some spots that are lacking that nice glazed finish and the tub is not exactly that new either,so a whole glaze is what I am going for.

Acid etching first, then clean it as good as possible.

Rust Oleum makes a very good coating epoxy for this.

All phases of this should be done with gloves, glasses and amazing ventillation.

Anytime I find an old clawfoot tub in a demo, I grab it clean it up and sell it for about $600-$900

i could see if it was an old clawfoot cleaning it up and have it resurfaced ...but those are kind of rare..i am assuming it is a regular rectangular cast iron tub...why not just buy a new tub..they are probably 275$
