Post subject:  Celebrating your Birthday

So my girl was giving me crap last night because I didn't want to do anything for my birthday......I mean, isn't this the norm among most men, and many people in general?

I haven't cared to celebrate my birthday since I was 21, and that was only because it meant I can get a drink.

She's different; she loves a lot of attention, so when its her birthday, wants to have a party at some club with VIP and that bullshit that I couldn't care less about. Just sounds like a waste of time, and money.

My birthday is usually always around Memorial Day Weekend, so getting some bbq is always fine with me.

It's just another day to me, honestly. Just means that I'm older now.

Aren't most of you all like that? I need answers!

Yes. I generally couldn't care less about my birthday but I've noticed a lot of women tend to make a big deal out of these things.

I could a crap about celebrating my birthday, but my son always wants to do something.

I'm the same way. I don't really make a big deal about my birthday. Hell, I usually work on my birthday. So many people here take vacation time for their birthdays. I don't do that.

As for my girl, she really wants to do something for me. I took her to an expensive restaurant back in Feb for her birthday, so I told her she can do the same for me when mine comes up. But really, I don't require much. Maybe a card. That's good enough for me.

I thought all guys didn't really care about their birthdays 'til I talked to my neighbor about his a while back. Sounded like a stright up chick. Telling me about the various parties and get togethers he was having. Also complaining about the gift one of his girls gave him because it didn't seem like she put enough thought into it... :?

I just ask my wife to cook something nice...

I turn 30 this summer so I might have a few people over to laugh at me.

I don't know your neighbor and I apologize if this is offensive, but that's some bitch ass shit right there.

I have 20 year friends that are that way. I'll party with them but I've never understood always wanting a big birthday bash every year. Especially when you really can't afford to do it.

Because that would mean people would have to actually laugh at one of my posts.

SP, the Birthday celebration is more important to others, than to you.

Just have them/her/anyone acquire your favorite pigout food.

I order the Warm whipped Dutch apple cheesecake from Hugos every year for delivery to either my moms or sisters, and thats all we eat. It's so damn good! Only served on Sundays for some reason. and I mean the whole cake! and some milk!

My female friend bought us tickets to a show in Milwaukee but I didn't ask for anything. She already
has a dinner date with her friends set up that I need to attend for hers. I usually don't like to even
bring mine up, but that is tough when on Facebook, although nice to hear from some people.

Last time I actually had a party, my ex-wife had a surprise party for my 30th. I doubt I will ever
have another one.

I'm calling bullshit on KI. I think every married man or man in a relationship occasionally think about being single or getting a "pass".

If I ever got a pass, I already know who I'd hit up.

But I wouldn't do that though...

Just sayin though...there's this woman here at my job. Yeah. I already know I could get it.

What's bad is that most of us probably wouldn't do it even if we were given a pass.

My birthday is on the most racist of holidays(besides St. Patricks Day) so I just celebrate that.

All I ever want to do is go to the bar with some friends. The gf tried to make a big deal, which was kind of nice. My birthday falls during spring break, so it was always largely ignored by my family. I usually work too, but my newfound apathy for my shitty job, coupled with it falling on a Friday caused me to burn a vacation day for it this year.

When I was a kid, I used to like going to a Cubs or Sox game on my birthday....and I wouldn't mind doing that now, except there is no way I'm giving either side of town, especially the Cubs, any of my money with these crap teams we have.

Newfound apathy?

You mean you were talking about how great it was these last few years?

That's what I think, too. Too much headache, not worth it.

I only envy single guys for a brief second until I think about all of the shit they have to put up with. Not better or worse, just wouldn;t work for me anymore...

I definitely wouldn't do it either. The single life is for the birds.

The legendary Frank Coztansa once had a quote in his signature:

"If you love somebody, set them free. If somebody loves you, don't fuck up."

Pretty much sums it up.

I liked this too as a kid but now I hate when the first idea someone has is going to a game. All I want is alcohol and a decent meal and I'm happy. No balloons or anything fancy is ever needed. My kids present to me was to not argue or fight for a day. They called it giving me a break. It last for about 45 mins.

Things went to shit around February.

Actually wasn't a bad job until then. Yes, I work with stupid people, but I didn't hate getting up most mornings like I started to then.
