I am not a crackpot. Quote: Illinois has more units of local government (most with property-taxing power) than any other state. In 2002 there were 102 counties, 1,291 municipalities, 1,431 townships, 934 public school districts, and 3,145 special districts. I say Chicago should finally get to eat Norridge and Harwood Heights so that there's not that stupid hole in the northwest side anymore. For the third one, get rid of, I dunno, either Lakemoor or Lilymoor. Merge them. I always confuse the two, anyway. Come to think of it, we don't need Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates, either. |

Mt Prospect and Prospect Heights can easily be combined into Mt. Prospect Heights. If the geographers are feeling extra badass they could throw Arlington Hts in there too. You could also combine Mettawa, Lincolnshire and Riverwoods and still not get a 12,000 population. |

immessedup17 wrote: There are a lot of mini-suburbs mixed about the larger ones...those could be absorbed. Long Grove into Buffalo Grove... Hanover Park & Streamwood into Bartlett (then burn the entire place down) Do the same with Greater Joliet... Wheaton can absorb Winfield. Suburbs are not like paper towels. Dum-dum silly goose. |

Palos Heights + Palos Hills + Palos Park = Palos |

Arlington Heights is a much nicer suburb, and the population of AH alone is greater than the population of both Mt. Prospect and Prospect Heights combined. edit: Shall I use assimilate? I think phrasing with absorb fit the situation better. Arlington Heights is more like Park Ridge. People move there and think they've "arrived" when they really haven't. Des Plaines is better grouped with Mt. Prospect and Prospect Heights than Arlington. |

Norridge & Harwood Heights are pretty close to home for me, CH. I don't understand it either. |

Sure there are some neighborhoods where that attitude definitely exists. I agree with suggestion to combine Prospects with Des Plaines. That's a better fit. |

A person that is not familiar with that area would get extremely lost, especially when riding down Montrose or Forest Preserve Dr where the streets turn into different streets a block away. |

Combine West Dundee and East Dundee, and make it Dundee. Elgin can eat South Elgin. All of the Barrington cities (Barrington Hills, Barrington Center, Barrington Woods, South Barrington, Lake Barrington) can all be part of Barrington. |
