Hello friends!

I'm looking to add a little bit of flair (WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) to my already finished basement. It lacks a nice bar. I would like to put said bar in said basement and put down some hard-ward flooring as well. I have a full bathroom already and plenty of space, it is also a walk-out. Any suggestions on who to call? Any warnings? Any hints? Any surprises I should look out for? Scams? What to ask? I needs too know.

And this is not an elaborate scheme to get JORR to come over to my abode and give me classic a one legger, I prefer two and only after the second visit.

Thanks, dudes.

You better go balls out with it. You need to have a closet with 6 or so kegs in it and then run lines to a tap tower that is also instantly cooled.

I dunno about that, I'm not looking to skimp too much on it, though.

Well, this was like a "Bat Signal", so hopefully he will hear the call.

You can find all sorts of stools, old signs, and lights for cheap or free on Craigslist. Might even be able to find the actual 'countertop' material for the bar too.

I don't know if that's legal. I have plenty of stuff to decorate with or at least know where to get it from.

Now let us keep this on track....

I'd rather not. He will read it and then send me a PM that yells at me about Mully and Hanley and the White Sox.

Can I please be all up in your house? I'm sayin...let me chill all up in yo crib and shit. Seriously. I mean, I want free reign to go through your fridge and walk barefoot and pantless in your place of residence.

I don't think you understand...I want to be in your house and not really have to ever leave for any reason.

I've been turning my attached garage into a mini bar. About 5 stools along with a stool behind the bar. It's a portable wooden bar that my sister couldn't fit in her apartment anymore and I've never been able to fit my vehicle in my garage, so I figured WTF? Got a recliner in there with sports posters and pennants on the walls as well as some movie stuff, dartboard, fridge, TV with DVD/VHS. Noting big, but been wanting to do this for awhile since my life has changed alot recently.

LOL!

Only reason I still have the VHS stuff is because it has alot of the NFL Films classic stuff. Got some used shelves from work and they fit nicely against the wall. I don't really have the time to transfer it all to DVD. Surprisingly they've all held up well...pretty much. The importance of having recorded in SP.

I guess my help is not needed because Someguy usually has all the answers, but in case anyone else is building a bar.

1. Draw out what you want for the basic structure. H-W-L and then go find a framing contractor to build a basic box, structurally sound. This is the cheap way or hire someone. So if you have any basically skills and tools you can so this from Plywood and 2x4's.

2. Now go and HIRE a Trim carpenter. Get some oak on the counter top and any decent trim carpenter should be able to make it look great in one day.

3. Stain the wood, after filling the holes with wood filler. Make sure you sand before you stain and then again after.

4. Polyurthane with SPAR VArnish everything but the top. 3 coats is best.

5. Here is the Secret. Go to Menards and by ENVIRO TEX. It is clear coast 2 part epoxy. This is what they use at Bars to get that thick coat on the top of the bar, or they put something underneath and that 1/4 inch thick clear is on top. You can use this one the edges of the top etc.

Once again this info is for anyone else other than SOMEGUY, who might be thinking about building a bar.

I would use OAK with a dark stain. You can also Buy bar foot rest for the bottom fairly cheap.

Mixing the epoxy after drinking..... Not as good of an idea as it sounds at the time.

Thanks, BigFan! I will be sure to not do any of these per your orders. But thanks anyways!

Now, any advice for a certain someone...named, uh, SumDude, who might want to make it a "Wet" bar? I'm just asking for a friend, you don't know him because he's not me.
