Quote:
Police took a man into custody Monday after "multiple people" were shot near Texas A&M University, a police official said.

Several law enforcement officers were among the people shot, Rhonda Seaton of the College Station Police Department told CNN. She didn't have information on how many people were shot or their conditions.

She said a person identified as the gunman was in custody. The shooting happened about one block from campus, Seaton said.

The university had warned people to stay away from the intersection of Welborn Road and George Bush Drive as well as part of Fidelity Drive in College Station, Texas.

This is getting out of control. I can only see some really hard nose gun control legislation coming down the pipeline.

No chance in hell any hardcore gun legislation will pass. The numbers won't be there for a very long time. Simple math makes this clear.

It's Texas, surprised it didn't erupt into a good ol' fashioned shootout.

UCLA > Texas A&M, per Jim Mora Jr.

Everybody is armed in Texas. I thought this sort of thing won't happen if everyone is armed?

It is possible that Texas A&M has stricter rules on it. At Purdue, you could technically get expelled for having a paintball gun in your room and definitely would get expelled for any type of gun including a hunting rifle.

Actually, it might have just been kicked out of the dorms now that I think about it.

This is a joke post, right?

Not everyone is armed in Texas.

And not everyone is armed on the campus of Texas A&M. And I'm pretty sure that the shooting happened in a "Gun Free Zone."

I also await the misinformation and poor reporting that will follow this. Should be fun on the boob tube for the next few days.

If there were people with concealed weapons walking around something like this wouldn't have happened. Maybe if someone nearby had an AK-47 this could have been prevented. 8)

Well, if the shooter was just plain insane and a total whack-job I'm sure that wouldn't matter.

I would love to know the exact weapons that were used, how/where they were acquired and this guys mental state etc. Now that would require actual journalism to be practiced so I won't hold my breath.

Not really. I heard a lot of that after the Colorado shooting, and other shootings before that one.

I enjoy making fun of the extremists on both sides of this issue.

Again, not much will matter if the perpetrator is insane.

Most of these guys have mental issues or they hold extreme beliefs. I doubt anything would stop them.

Right, most of these things are suicides and they just decide to take as many people as they can with them.

You are getting dangerously close to Jimmy Reardon, tin foil hat territory.
