Why dont we have a thread like this? I love this stuff

Howard Stern vs Andrew Dice Clay

There are 4 parts to that one. Stern kinda talks over him but still good stuff.

RPB changed the title on me, but I am still an idiot for thinking it.

It started off well, but got really uncomfortable after the first video. Ran way too long. Really good though.

Ditka vs Duerson on the old MJH show. Entertaining, but uncomfortable radio for sure. Not really sure if its online anywhere.

Interesting that Dahl has so much respect for Stern considering everyone thinks Stern ripped Dahl off.

If I were Dahl, Id be pissed when Stern was constantly taking the credit for basically inventing SHOCK radio.

In a video of Stern bashing Mancow he reads a letter from Dahl congratulating him on his grace in divorce

Murph vs Mulligan was one of the better ones too. As I mentioned before, I recorded it on an old Nextel phone at the time, complete with Boers' reaction to it. If I can ever get that phone to work, I'll try to get it on a wav file.

It is not a matter of "thinks". I could give you a fairly conclusive timeline with attached audio evidence to prove the thievery. Stern didn't just amplify an idea, he took bits in their entirety almost verbatim.

The best evidence is when Stern started calling up the Bijou Theater hotline. Dahl had been making it a weekly bit. How did Howard suddenly find the hotline to an obscure gay porn theater in a city in which he didn't broadcast and decide to make it a bit?

I had always thought it was sour grapes on Dahl's part. Then I heard the Bijou tapes on a best of segment and it changed my view...then a lot of other things started to sound familiar (homo club, Anthony voice, etc.).

I vaguely remember listening to Lujack come into the studio and threaten to break Garry's leg or something like that. If I recall correctly, Steve & Garry had to work the day before Thanksgiving as a punishment of some sort, and Lujack was there too, though not for punishment. More because he was such a curmudgeon. Anyway, the boys were giving it to Lujack, so he came into the studio and made the threat. I'm pretty sure Garry's other leg was already broken from a slip on stage, but as I get older, my memory ain't what it used to be.

GD, do you remember when Jim had a character? Cecil was his name. Kev as Jim as Cecil would say something Jim didn't like, and he'd say, "Cecil, please!" I always loved Kev's theater of the mind. Then, I think Cecil had a character, too, but the name escapes me. Kev was really out there. Truly brilliant stuff.

That was the summer of 2005, and I was working a job where I was in my car quite a bit, so I listened to sports radio a lot.

I remember how thin skinned Murph was. Murph and Mulligan's daily transitions were hilarious because of Murph's terse responses. The best one was his reply about what he had for lunch. Murph responded something like, "I don't eat lunch." Then said something about a banana. B&B cut that tape up and ran with it. Really funny.

Dahl left Detroit for Chicago, and Stern replaced him in Detroit. There is no doubt that Dahl was the innovator.

Of course, this isn't the story that Howard will tell. Stern is the most honest broadcaster, just ask him.

Found this on the SFN...

Dahl beat Howard when both were in Detroit, so Howard would absolutely know what Dahl was doing.
Dahl syndicated first (Milwaukee and Detroit).
Dahl talked to his girlfriend/wife and family members on air first.
Then there are the calls to Iran, blowing up of records, talking to god (Dahl actually played Satan with the voice modulator but it was the same bit), the fake black voice traffic reporter through a megaphone, the homo club (right down to the door closing, the dripping water and echo), the making fun of interns, the Bijou Theater, spanking women, talking to porn stars (Seka was a huge Dahl fan and eventually got her own show because of it), the live shows on weekends, song parodies, taking listeners for shows on the road (for Dahl it was Hawaii)...

All of that was Dahl first. Including getting a vasectomy on air live before Katie Couric did her colonoscopy. And I think Kinnison was on Dahl's show first before Howard's, though that I'm not 100 percent on.

This site, while not the best, offers a glimpse of the early Dahl:
http://www.thestevervault.com/blog/
A bit too much editing for my taste and there's a lot of jumping around in time. But still, it's Dahl amd Meier in the glory days.

It would have been artisticly fine if Stern got his inspiration from Dahl. He straight out stole bits, in their entirety, and presented them as his own.

There are questions as to the validity of it, though. It can't be overlooked that Rome is a critically acclaimed actor with an extensive resume of films under his belt including Space Jam and The Longest Yard (2005).

Loved this one. I remember thinking what an idiot Schuster was for arguing the definition of intimidation.

Doug Buffone vs. Dan Bernstein (I think it was around early 2000's)

It was early in the NFL season (week 3 maybe) and Bernsie said that the rest of the season didn't matter anymore.

Buffone started into a tyrade which eventually ended up with him calling Bernsie "Dictionary Face". It was classic, not too meany spirited, just classic though. 8)

That's a latter day development. When Stern first got huge Dahl would often accuse him of stealing his shtick. He probably figures it might be tough to take on the King of All Media from his basement. It would come off like the drunk who actually invented the reaper staggering around the Levee mumbling about how Cyrus McCormick ripped him off.

I don't know any of those references.
