Watching the Sox game yesterday got me thinking...

What is the most surreal or unusual thing (good or bad) you have ever seen or experienced at a sporting event?

I saw Bo Jackson riding a Harley Davidson in center field at Comiskey and handed it off to an old crying white man in catcher's gear.

I saw the Fabulous Ones beat the Road Warriors at the Rosemont Horizon when I was 7 or 8 years old.

Not a sporting event...but a concert...Billy Joel & Elton John (rosemont)....Billy was playing the piano...finishing a song... and one of the stage hands came up and whispered something in his ear....he finished the song and then quickly said something like..."up next...is our roady Chainsaw".....so this roady dude comes out on stage and sings AC/DC's Back in Black (i think)....in the middle of the Joel/John concert. Crazy weird....but probably the best song of the night (for me).

Later in the concert, Elton John announced that his lead guitar player was informed mid-concert that his teenage son had been killed in some type of accident out in california. He then followed that announcement by singing his "candle in the wind" song which he had rarely performed live at that point.

All sorta weird...but Chainsaw rocked as a fill in while they figured out how to handle the news.

I was actually driving right next to the stadium when that happened and was listening to it on the radio.

I would say for me the coolest thing I have experienced was opening day last year at the Bears game on Sept 11th.

Holy shit I'm good at that. Cairo, we could be like Clipse.

Not terrible.

Id add a multisyllabic rhyme. Like instead of all of them being one syllable

Like the last line could be "When I battle you, I got the shit on remote"

Another one sports related..

I was at the super bowl in Houston (patriots 32 - panthers 29)......right after half time & right before the second half kick off...this "referee" starts to do a strip routine and little dance on the field. Obviously it was an intruder who had found his way on the filed...at the super bowl...had the actual ball in his hand right before kick off....and then he did what he did, ran & got caught. I think he had some on line casino "advertisment" written on his chest.

So...shorty after that my phone is ringing and friends at home are calling me asking me "if I saw that". While I was saying yes I did in referrence to the "referee / stripper"...they were all talking about Janet Jackson & "nipple-gate". We knew nothing about what Janet Jackson had done...no clue.

A second item from this game....great game, field goal to win it....fucking super bowl....everything you'd want....and in a skybox behind us was Steven Tyler and a bunch of others "acting the fool(s)" and half the gdamn section we were in were turned around watching them when the game itself was coming down to crucnch time!! dumb asses.

The most bonkers I ever got at a live game was this. The crowd reaction was priceless:

My family and I managed to wander into a Sox/Tigers doubleheader on July 12, 1979. Baseball and radio history were made that evening....somewhere in my parents' basement are slides of the event (that's how we recorded history in the days before the cell phone)

WS Game II.

Also, in 2009 there weren't any limits to the fly-overs during the air show practice. So, jets flying overhead while in the bleachers at Wrigley for the first 4 innings or so...pretty much scared the shit out of all of us.

I was at that game too....was a pretty cool moment.

-Going to an Eagles/Bears game in '89 The crowd kept yelling Buddy Burgers for some reason.

-Also, went to a Sox game in '84, playing the National Anthem before the game for the TF South Band...was a totally surreal moment standing out in Center Field and entering through the bullpen area or whatever it was. That same day, a friend of mine went and I searched all through the stands blindly and found him about the 4th inning.

Watching Artis Gilmore steal an inbounds pass in the last seconds against the Bill Walton led Trailblazers, dribble once and dunk the ball for an apparent victory...only to have it waved off by a travelling call. (One dribble from 1/2 court was pretty good for A-Train).
