My favorite part is it was edited by another teacher at Rich Central. At least they are getting something accomplished. Of course you have freedom of speech, but writing a book like this and volunteering your work security at a strip club is not the smartest thing to do as a coach/teacher. High school girls hoops coach writes graphic book on sex, women By Casey Toner ctoner@southtownstar.com August 31, 2012 1:07PM The head coach of Rich Central High School’s girls varsity basketball team has written a self-published book in which he describes in graphic detail his opinion on the vaginal differences between women of different races and says, “the easiest kill for a man is through the young lady with low self-esteem.” Ads by Google Head coach Bryan Craig, who also is a counselor at the Olympia Fields school, wrote such passages in his self-help book, “It’s Her Fault,” which he published in July. Craig says he moonlights as a bouncer at an area strip club. The book, which was edited by another teacher at the school, was written to give women the, “upper hand in a relationship,” according to the foreword. “The easiest kill for a man is through the young lady with low self-esteem,” Craig wrote in the book. “Of course some will feel this is taking advantage, and yes it is. The ultimate goal for a man is to do all he can to eventually be able to commit and submit to a woman’s power.” The book is available online in paper and electronic formats. Rich Township High School District 227 Supt. Donna Simpson Leak said Craig is still working at the school despite his book. “He has his constitutional right to free speech,” Leak said. “We are concerned, we don’t condone what’s in his book, and we are monitoring it so this doesn’t create a situation at the school.” Board president Betty Owens blasted Craig’s book and said the matter is under investigation. “It’s distasteful, it’s inappropriate, and it wouldn’t be on my list of things to read,” Owens said. Last year Craig, who has led the school’s varsity girls basketball program since 2008, got into trouble with the IHSA after playing an ineligible transfer student. As a result, the team forfeited a majority of its regular-season wins. Craig cites his experience at Rich Central in the book’s foreword, writing that he has spent most of his life “surrounded by women.” “I coach girls basketball, work in an office where I am the only male counselor, and am responsible for roughly 425 high school students a year, about half of whom are females,” Craig writes. “Suffice it to say, I have spent a considerable amount of time around, and with, the fairer sex.” Whether it was working as a mental health counselor at Mount Sinai Health Center in Chicago or with the Illinois Department of Children Family Services, he repeatedly told women they could control their relationships, Craig wrote. The point of the book, Craig wrote, is to give women a “road map to having the upper hand in a relationship with a man.” Craig wrote about his side gig doing security at “a very popular gentlemen’s club in Chicago.” Working there, he wrote, allows him to let off steam, manage anger and irritation, and “be nicer to my wife.” Men at the strip club spend hundreds of one-dollar bills on strippers who whisper, “I love you,” in their ears, he wrote. “In some cases, strippers and dancers show the overall dominance a woman can have over a man,” Craig wrote. “Not to say that stripping is what has to be done to truly establish dominance, but these women’s mind set is in the right place in order to meet the true potential of the point of this book.” All men and women should be sexually promiscuous before getting married, Craig wrote. He describes in graphic detail what he perceives to be the difference in the color and texture of vaginas of women from various races and ethnicities. Craig also addresses his own sexual faults. “Even though I feel I’m beyond the highest caliber of men, I still have a weakness for cleavage,” Craig wrote. Later in the book, Craig gets personal, writing that a woman he loved in college got pregnant, miscarried the child, and then told him she was cheating on him. “From that moment forward, I vowed to never be put in that situation, and to mind-f--- every woman I could,” Craig wrote. He then describes a method that allows women to juggle five different partners at once. He describes the strategy as “the A through E:” your admirer, your ultimate admirer, your counselor, your sexual release, your ideal. “And yes, you can have more than one (sexual release), just be careful, this one could kill you,” Craig wrote. In the final chapter, Craig encourages readers to enter the “wonderful world of submissiveness.” “He’s your man, go ahead and let him turn you every which way, let him touch your hair if he asks, real or not,” Craig wrote. “Give him oral sex without making the ‘ugh’ face.” Craig also warns against telling people too many personal details. “Speaking of business, our biggest downfall in relationships is sharing too much information with friends or associates,” Craig said. “In general, (read it slowly) people do not want the best for you. This is why people watch race car driving: hoping to see some one crash.” |

Quote: “Suffice it to say, I have spent a considerable amount of time around, and with, the fairer sex.” Couldn't decide, went with both. I do this all the time. Whet the hell, throw "in proximity to" in there additionally as well. |

My guess is this gets over turned in the courts. He has tenure. SD 227 board fires counselor who authored racy book BY CASEY TONER ctoner@southtownstar.com September 18, 2012 6:34PM Updated: September 18, 2012 9:05PM The Rich Township High School District 227 counselor and former varsity girls basketball coach who authored a sexually explicit self-help book was fired Tuesday night by the school board. But Bryan Craig, whom the board unanimously voted to dismiss at a special meeting at Rich South High School in Richton Park, is considering filing a lawsuit against district and appealing to the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board, his attorney said. Ads by Google “We regret the board’s decision. It’s a clear violation of Mr. Craig’s First Amendment rights,” attorney Stephen Richards said. “Mr. Craig is not going to let this matter rest.” Craig last month was suspended as a counselor at Rich Central High School and resigned as girls varsity basketball coach after a SouthtownStar report on a book he wrote, “It’s Her Fault,” which contains his controversial and often crude views on women and sex. The book included graphic descriptions about his opinions on vaginal differences between women of different races and said “the easiest kill for a man is through the young lady with low self-esteem.” The board voted 6-to-0 to fire him. Board member Alyssa Hernadez was absent. “Mr. Craig’s conduct in this matter fell far short of our expectations and evoked outrage from me, members of this board and many others in our district who have come to expect the highest level of professionalism and sound judgment from the people they entrust with their children each day,” Board President Betty Owens said. “Our actions tonight bring a swift conclusion to this matter and to Mr. Craig’s employment with the district and allow us to return to our priorities of preparing District 227 students for success in school and in life.” Officials said Craig had a hearing Monday during which he was given a list of charges and an explanation of the evidence against him, and he was given the opportunity to explain himself. Richards said he didn’t represent Craig at the hearing, but he doesn’t believe Craig should have been fired because the book was not related to his employment. “Mr. Craig was wronged,” Richards said. Before the controversy went viral, Supt. Donna Simpson Leak said she had known about the book for about a week and said Craig “has his constitutional right to free speech.” He was suspended later that day. Craig, 33, of Matteson, has been a faculty member since 2004 and is tenured. He could not be reached for comment. Craig also faced controversy as a basketball coach when the IHSA ruled in February that Rich Central had to forfeit 16 regular-season games for allowing an ineligible transfer student to play. |

Honestly, if the southtown doesn't write the story, he still has his job. Before sex book, ex- Rich Central girls coach had run-in with co-worker’s husband BY CASEY TONER Updated: September 20, 2012 11:58AM A Rich Central High School counselor who was fired Tuesday for writing a sexually graphic self-help book found himself in trouble with school officials at least twice previously, the SouthtownStar has learned. Bryan Craig was suspended for five days in 2010 for referring students to a private tutoring company — for which the company was to compensate him — and in 2009 was reprimanded by a principal after a man showed up at school, caused a disturbance, and said Craig was having a relationship with his wife, a school cafeteria worker, records show. Craig was suspended as a counselor at Rich Central last month after a SouthtownStar report on a book he wrote, “It’s Her Fault,” which contains his controversial and often crude views on women and sex. He also resigned as girls varsity basketball coach. The book includes graphic descriptions about his opinions on vaginal differences between women of different races and said “the easiest kill for a man is through the young lady with low self-esteem.” The Rich Township High School District 227 Board on Tuesday voted unanimously to fire Craig, saying his conduct “fell far short of our expectations and evoked outrage” among board members and others. The previous discipline issues were not a factor in Craig’s firing, according to his attorney, Stephen Richards. “What that has to do with the price of tea in China, I’m not sure,” Richards said. “He was fired for the book, not anything else.” Richards said Tuesday that Craig was considering suing the district over his ouster or appealing to the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board. In the matter that led to Craig’s suspension in 2010, he inappropriately identified and recruited students in order to have their parents select a specific company, School Service Systems, for tutoring services — a violation of the Illinois Administrative Code — according to records. District 227 also said Craig arranged for other Rich Central personnel to meet with representatives of School Service Systems on district property so they could help him recruit students, according to records. He also completed applications for the services on behalf of students and their parents, and instructed other teachers to do so, according to records. In addition to being suspended, Craig was warned after that that any additional incidents of misconduct would result in additional discipline, up to and including termination, records show. A year earlier, then-Rich Central Principal Maceo Rainey reprimanded Craig after the husband of a cafeteria worker showed up at school in December 2008 and claimed Craig was having an affair with his wife, records show. According to the reprimand letter, Craig contacted the woman to meet for drinks to counsel her. But he failed to show that his intentions were “professional and not personal,” according to the letter, and when her husband came to school and claimed his wife and Craig were having an affair, it created “unsafe working conditions,” according to records. Although Olympia Fields police were called to the school, no one was charged, police said. The cafeteria worker denied the affair, saying she told Craig “she needed some counseling,” according to police reports. Craig told police the woman’s husband had threatened to kill him but that the husband offered to spare his life and those of his family if Craig gave him $2,500, police said. District 227 board member Cheryl Coleman said she was unaware of the prior incidents, but questioned whether it should have taken three incidents before Craig was fired. “I wouldn’t know why it would take this long,” Coleman said. “You deal with one issue and you be swift, and fair and consistent.” Craig, who received tenure in 2008, also faced controversy as the girls varsity basketball coach when the IHSA in February ordered Rich Central to forfeit 16 regular-season games for using an ineligible player. Craig was not disciplined for his role in the matter. |

Unless they can prove he was writing the book on school time, I think he will win this lawsuit Fired coach who wrote racy sex book suing district By Casey Toner ctoner@southtownstar.com September 24, 2012 1:20PM The former Rich Central High School basketball coach and guidance counselor who was fired after writing a racy self-help book containing graphic opinions on sex and women is suing the district for $1 million, claiming his First Amendment rights were violated. Bryan Craig, who was fired on Sept. 18, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Chicago. The lawsuit is asking a jury to award Craig money for attorney fees and to “compensate him for the injuries he suffered.” Craig last month was suspended as a counselor at Rich Central after a SouthtownStar report on a book he wrote, “It’s Her Fault.” District officials initially said he resigned from his position as girls varsity basketball coach after the report, but he submitted his resignation days earlier. The book included graphic descriptions about his opinions on vaginal differences between women of different races and said, “The easiest kill for a man is through the young lady with low self-esteem.” Craig’s attorney, Stephen Richards, defended his client with what he says was a quote from former President Thomas Jefferson. “If freedom of speech is limited, it is lost,” Richards said. “That’s a good motto for this lawsuit.” Richards said the lawsuit was filed because Craig’s name was “dragged in the mud.” “We feel he’s been harmed,” Richards said. “If school districts can fire teachers for writing books, we’re all in trouble.” Richards said Craig’s book should be protected under the First Amendment because he wrote it on behalf of himself, and not the school where he worked. Rich Township High School District 227 Supt. Donna Simpson Leak and the board members are all named in the lawsuit. The lawsuit references the letter Leak wrote Craig on Sept. 14 prior to his firing that lists 23 charges of misconduct against him — 18 of them related to Craig’s book. The SouthtownStar previously reported that Craig was suspended for five days in 2010 for referring students to a private tutoring company — for which the company was to compensate him. In addition to being suspended, Craig was warned after that any additional incidents of misconduct would result in additional discipline, up to and including firing, records show. In 2009, Craig was also reprimanded by a principal after a man showed up at the school, caused a disturbance, and said Craig was having a relationship with his wife, a school cafeteria worker, records show. Board member Sheila Friday said Monday that Craig has the right to file a lawsuit but doesn’t think he will succeed. “It will be a waste of his time, the court’s time, and the public’s time,” Friday said. “Our school district deserves an apology from him. He doesn’t deserve our pity.” |
