The world I and the rest of you literally changed before our eyes. I wonder if this was how those who lied at the time of Pearl Harbor or the JFK assassination felt. All the lives lost for the most part because we had troops defending an ally. Then the start of the war in Afghanistan. I still remember the pictures of the Special Forces guys riding into battle on horses just like the cavalry of old. Riding to the rescue of the settlers in the old black and white movies. Then a mistake of going into Iraq with no clear strategy or exit plan, that is right Chus I said it, It was the right war for all the wrong reasons. The messages from Bin Laden mocking us and threatening us. How different the world would have been if Clinton would have taken him out the many times he had the opportunity. I am not laying it all down on CLintons' feet, just partial blame for what has transpired like I do with Bush. We live today in a country that is turning more and more into something scary. Video cameras on street corners. The government reading our emails at will. Thousands of our brave soldiers, sailors,Marines and Airmen dead in a futile struggle. We are like it or not doing the same thing we did in Vietnam today that we did in Afghanistan and Iraq. Leaving the job incomplete. Is it Obamas' fault, not really it is our fault as a nation. We now because of the quickness and ease of the liberation of Kuwait to expect it now from the military all the time. Alas it is not so easy. The Middle east is to put it simply a fucked up place, people there can not just seem to get along. Maybe it is better to let the whole place dissolve into anarchy. We really do not need them for anything. We can get oil form here,Mexico,Venezuela or Russia. The three countries that really depend on Middle Eastern oil do not even contribute to the defense of the area. I think by next January we will be once again forced to intervene in a country there, this time Syria. I also think when we do we will find Saddams' Chemical and biological weapons. We also need to stop Iran from getting the atomic bomb and sorry to say get them out of the hands of a couple of nations who already have it that should not because they might just use it. One is a so called ally and the other is an ally. This all being said I will go back to being a bigoted insensitive far right wing dick, that okay with you Chus? |

They had no intention of going after Bin Laden right away. Even without 9/11, Saddam was their guy, so to speak. Bin Laden just kinda distracted them for a bit. |

He had an option it is called resigning from office. Saddam kinda sealed his fate with Bush jr when he tried to kill the old man. I would have done the same thing if I was him. Plus Saddam had Chem weapons and with the WoT just gearing up you wanted them to be out of circulation quick. The move that Surprised me is how we dealt with Pakistan. Those fuckers need a good ass kicking. As much as Indian has problems with us I would rather back them than those jerks. |

I like that MSNBC replays NBC's coverage of the events that day. I always watch it like it's the first time and usually hear or learn something that I missed that helps fuel my conspiracy theories. |

Yeah 3 years later. If he felt that the information he was using was bad or that he was not doing the right thing he should have resigned right then and there. CIA and NSA need to be destroyed and rebuilt, they have done nothing really useful for over 40 years. |

Yes, and I saw a 'report' recently saying that Syria had a portion of Saddam's stockpile of chemical weapons .... isn't that just the craziest coincidence or what? |

rogers park bryan wrote: chaspoppcap wrote: Plus Saddam had Chem weapons . did he? Yes he did. Saddam used mustard gas on the Shiites and the Kurds in his own country back in the early to mid 80's. Reagan had him at the White House later and posed for pics with him. I can't find the video but Sadaam is in the Oval Office and wearing military fatigues. |

Once a great friend and then a great enemy. I'm sure in 20 years we'll see video of the last 3 presidents with people in the White House that we are trying to eliminate. |

There were reports that Saddam, days before the war, was trucking them into Syria. And the our government never sold Saddam any NBC weapons. What our government, other governments and corporations did was sell him dual use technologies. |

Sadaam Hussein Hosni Mubarak Osama Bin Laden Manuel Noriega Daniel Ortega These are but a few of former American "friends" that became big problems later. At some point we have to learn to mind our own business. |
