Some parents feel the need to buy the expensive electronics for their kids who are barely able to read. Do you agree with buying them the latest and greatest? |

My kid uses my old iPad. Didn't feel the need to get it for him, but he likes it, has fun with it and does some educational stuff on there too. |

I might have to get one for my daughter. Its good for when we are out somewhere and shes fussy i can just put on sesame street or other educational programs to keep her entertained. She already uses my iphone and laptop for that stuff. An ipad or other tablet is much more convenient for travel |

Its when I see parents buying the newest version of this stuff, I think it is kinda screwed up. You wanna give them your old phone (without activation) fine...games, etc...time killers...but dont think a kid under 10 needs an Iphone5...and yes I know a few who have them |

He gets the old one. |

No, but id buy myself a new one and give her my old one. The ability to read has nothing to do with it. There are apps on there to learn HOW to read. Sounds like Mini Ditka is reaching to justify his odd stance |

No. She can use our phone when we are out for certain things or waiting for a table. She has a DS, But when we are in a restaurant she is not allowed any electronic devices and will color or draw at the table and talk. If anything she can use a small 8 gig ipod for her music to practice to or for shows in case no one else has music. |

They are screwed for sure. Moms should be way older than 4 when they have kids. |

I don't even own any of that shit myself. I have an old iPOD that is mine. MINE DAMMIT. My kids get lucky when my wife brings them to the library to check out some books. |

I like music but I am not a big or informed consumer of it. I want my kids to learn to play an instrument. I recommended the saxamaphone as it seems like the coolest instrumen to me. |

Hatchetman wrote: gotta save my coins for the piano my daughter is going to be needing. Don't ever buy a piano. Just get a full size keyboard. Pianos are a fortune to tune and hard to get rid of when you want to dump them. |
