I had to look up that my high school still played football. Saw that they are in the playoffs. That's how much grown men without kids in high school should care.

you're not allowed to like music or go see bands unless you can play music or are in one.

3-6 in the worst division of the catholic league

Too many teams and too many divisions. We need a one division 4 team play-off, I don't care if Nequa Valley plays Stockton, too many winners and not enough losers. 6 of the 9 teams in my old conference the West Suburban Silver made it (OPRF, Proviso W, Lyons, Glenbard W, Hinsdale C, Downers N). LT went 5-4, no one deserves to make the playoffs at 5-4. Back when I played no one made the play-offs at 5-4, 6-3 was iffy. Also no Catholic schools should be invited.

They will never be a consistently good football team. The don't really even want to be a consistently good team.

My nephew is playing in that level. He was quoted two weeks in a row by the Sun Times for his performance. This week he rushed for 168 yards and a TD. Now all we got to do is get the kid to take his school work some what serious so he can get into college.

Is it ok to follow soph/JV teams for no reason? Freshman? Middle school? Junior tackle?
Where is the cutoff?

Whats worse a guy who follows the high school team of which he went to or had kids attend, or the crazy college fans who have no affiliation what so ever?

I like the Bears and the Cubs. Never played for either one. I did get a tryout for the back up catcher job at DePaul though.

I agree. And it isn't like the 6A champ is necessarily inferior to the 8A champ. I thought four classes was a lot. And don't get me started on how they ruined the basketball.

Also, high school football is a great sport. I find it far more entertaining than college or the NFL.

Varsity is the cutoff. I couldn't tell you how the Frosh/Sophs did this year.

I also think that if you went to a college or university that didn't have a football team, you are allowed to like whomever you want.

High School Football is great, & the current system is just fine. Its a great value at $6 or $7 a game.
What makes HS Football great is being with friends & neighbors from the local community...everyone knows everyone.
We lived in Texas for a couple of years & the HS Football fandom is absolutely nuts there. Allen High School near Fort Worth just built a $60 Million 18K seat stadium with a video scoreboard & corporate sponsorship. Check out this link:

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/business/2012/08/60-million-high-school-football-stadium/

As far as people rooting for Colleges that they didn't attend, I say root for whoever you want to root for. Also, there are many many Colleges that reside in areas with no pro sports, like Nebraska, Iowa, Boise State. They're the biggest game in town, so everyone is a fan.

I prefer to watch T-Ball. Those kids appreciate the game more than these high school thugs.

A couple of kids on the Maine South team live on my mom's street and I babysat them when they were little so I sort of follow them as it is my alma matter as well.

I like the point about following a college team if your college didn't have a football team. Or if it's just the closest school to you and you like the sport.

I see my alma mater Warren Township has a date this Friday evening against Stevenson in 8A.
I was surprised to even see them in the playoffs and I think Stevenson is pretty good this year.
Doug may know more about that, I think Stevenson won or tied for conference honors

Is Deerfield in the playoffs?

If not, I always just cheer for the most northern team available.

All brackets for all classes in case anyone is interested.

Shakes, I didn't see Deerfield but there are a handful of further north burbs that are competing.
