But you're right, RPB should have gone with the GIF. |

RPB views this going down. He's involved. Suggests to screaming co-worker "maybe he needs to get his shit in line to be a playa' in the office." Turn computer screen. Proceeds to show him the Antoine Walker gif. That's it, problem over. |

About 5 years ago I was running a sales meeting with my sales team, there were about 40 people at this meeting from the field & corporate. We had a fairly new Marketing Director who was a in way over his head & everyone knew it. He made a lot of commitments & promises that never panned out. During his presentation my guys were grilling him & he had no answers. During the presentation following him, one of my sales guys made a remark about one of the Marketing Product Managers, & while I am standing in the back of the room, the Marketing Director grabs me by the arm & says "come with me". We leave the room, & he goes berserk out in the hallway & proceeds to push me against the wall repeatedly while he is shaking his finger in my face & yelling at me because he is mad that my guys are going after him & his people. Keep in mind that this guy is about 5'5" & 250 LBS, & I am 6' & 225. I remained cool as a cucumber & told him that this would end bad for him if he continued. I almost started laughing at one point. I knew that this clown was writing his ticket out. I called HR & the next day I had to drive from St. Louis to Milwaukee for a meeting at Corporate. I got drilled by HR & corporate management for a couple of hours. Luckily the other guy admitted that he had lost it & was not provoked. He had over 30 years with the company & was terminated immediately. A few Months later he sent me a letter of apology. |

A few things: This kinda thing happened on the trading floor and were all transplants from there so I guess there's a little carryover Our boss was off. The asst Mgr who was there is 2 days from starting a different job in the company and he's pretty friendly with this guy. But to be honest its happened a few times with other circumstances and the boss kinda let it go until its way too far. When I say he's had similar incidents, Im under selling it....This EXACT thing has happened at least two other times with other co workers Him |

Driving 600 miles to resolve something that could have been settled on the spot with broken-off chair legs sounds like something out of a Sensitivity Training Seminar. Exactly. Look at the difference in the way the traders handled their dispute as compared to the corporate pansyism detailed above. There's a reason people write books and make movies romanticizing the lives of those masters of the markets. Work hard, play hard. Chicago, the city of big shoulders. Fortunes made and fortunes lost in the blink of an eye. Rogers Park Bryan didn't run whining to HR like a little bitch. He handled his business and cooler heads prevailed. Men being men. It seems like the popular viewpoint in this forum is that someone should be fired. I'm telling the teacher. There's nothing wrong with a couple guys airing their opinions with authority. The hive listens to the bee that dances the hardest. |
