Someone said Frank Thomas is as good as Mickey Mantle if not better.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. It is impossible, and unhealthy, to read every word posted on this web site. I now have to step away from my computer for a little while because I feel dizzy, disoriented and weak.

I have to digest this precious little bit of insanity, for if I post my immediate reaction I may be banned from this web site.

I am suddenly imagining the cheetah-like image of Mickey Charles Mantle racing around the outfield like a jaguar and catching literally every ball hit anywhere near him. Then he will slug mammoth home runs with the power of a mighty elephant or gorilla.

Then I imagine the turtle-like Frank Thomas plodding down the line, and then being unable to even find his glove because he was mostly a pseudo baseball playing designated hitter.

Does anybody ever even think of how historic Mickey Charles Mantle's numbers would have been if there had been a designated hitter in the 1960's? I definitely do. Thank God there was not, however, because there are few things more pathetic than an elderly ballplayer desperately hanging on by becoming a fake player whose entire participation in the game is stepping to the plate a few times each game.

I think MCM might have been better served worrying about the Designated Driver. :lol:

As long as it wasnt Jeff Nelson pitching, Id be more than comfortable having Frank bat instead of Mantle if I had only 1of them to choose from.

This is like when a mental patient insists that he is Napoleon. It is counterproductive to argue with him. In fact, it might be dangerous to your well being.

Sometimes you just have to grit your teeth, smile, and say "Yes, Emperor."

You realize that the offensive numbers of those two eras are completely different, right?

Let me see Mantle get a ball out of the infield against Randy Johnson or Roger Clemens. Then we'll talk about this apparent chasm of difference.

Mantle was one of the best all around players to ever play the game.

Frank Thomas was among the best right handed hitters to ever play the game;
Quote:
-Thomas is on a short list of players who have hit 500 home runs while maintaining a career .300 batting average (joining Hall-of-Famers: Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and later joined by Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramírez)

-Thomas is also on a short list of players to hit 500 career home runs and accrue at least 1600 bases on balls. The others are: Babe Ruth, Mel Ott, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, and Barry Bonds.

-Thomas's level of play, as supported by his statistics through the 1990s was remarkable. Using the sabermetrics statistical device known as Runs Created, Thomas was the most dominant hitter of this decade.

-Thomas established a major league record in the 1990s, with seven straight seasons where he exceeded .300 in batting average, drew more than 100 walks, scored over 100 runs, and hit more than 20 home runs. Thomas broke the record of five consecutive seasons at this level of excellence, established by the legendary Ted Williams in the 1940s.

If Frank played for the Yankees, a lot more people would know the depth of his greatness.

Or the fact that Mantle didnt have to face late inning specialists throwing 100. He played when managers left relievers in for 3 innings plus if they brought them in at all to relieve their rag armed starter after 130 pitches. I'll stand by my statement. Frank was as good as an offensive player as Mantle. I really dont think its that controversial a stance except everyone hears Mantles name invoked and starts chugging his cock.

Frank Thomas's liver is certainly better than both of Mantle's were.

Yeah, but neither one produced any rap albums worth a shit, so they're tied there.

That might not be entirely true;
Quote:
Currently, Frank Thomas serves as CEO and Founder of W2W Records, a record label based in Las Vegas, NV. Over the past decade, music production and the development of artists has been a passion Thomas pursued primarily in the off-season. As a result of his February 2010 retirement from baseball, Thomas assumed both full-time creative direction and management of W2W Records operations. The label presently has four artists signed: Tampa Bay Rap artist, Swerv, renowned Harlem-based Rap artist Cardan, pop vocalist Bonnie Marie and BelleVoxx; a female pop trio consisting of Denisse Lara, Harmony Moniz and Raquel Houghton that Thomas personally developed and produced. BelleVoxx debuted their first single, Looking For Love, on October 12, 2010.

The DH wasnt gonna help The Mick. He was finished. If he could have hit he would have been at first base.

I will be the first to admit that Frank Thomas would destroy Mickey Charles Mantle in a rap off battle, or whatever it is called. I have street credibility, and I am certainly down with the struggle, players, but I am not a rap expert, so I am unsure. Mickey Charles Mantle definitely threw down some wacko rhymes.

Do not, however, get me started on the inequality of their square dancing skills.

Badrogue said that some of Frank's numbers were better than Mantle's, and that they were comparable offensively. Nowhere did he say Frank was a better player than Mantle.

Mantle would have never been able to play a skill position in the sec.

Of course you are correct, Emperor. Russia is vulnerable and ripe for attack this winter.

You are on the internet Brick.

Pick up a cursor. Mantle played from 1951 to 1968.

It isn't Balcks Mantle would pale in comparison to. Latins are now the best players in the game.
