Pretty much every night the Spam/Hackers/Turkish Assholes register 5-20 names. All like HHJUHYG

They rarely try and post anything, sometimes, 1 or 2 posts, which dont show up until I approve them, so I have the chance to delete them before the spam shows up.

Even if it is a program/spam to register names, why? whats the fucking point of it?

If they aren't posting anything, not sure. Typically it's to share links for SEO purposes.

I don't have a clue, but I'm going to show this to a couple people. Hopefully they can assist.

You should add a CAPTCHA to the registration process

The random words it generates will bear a stunning resemblance to a CGS post.

It's a program. It runs on it's own. There is not somebody on the other end of line typing Redacted and hitting enter. There are a couple of reason why someone would create a program to create messageboard username:

1. They got shit to sell. Casting as wide a net as possible for moving units of Warhammer40K gold, bags and shoes, cheap high quality jerseys, etc.
2. Gaining access to your computer. If you happen to click on whatever link is in the spam, attempts will be made to turn your machine into a bot for their purposes. Your computer will not melt and the program may not work, just want to use some of its capacity to to help the program run a little faster with more capacity. For reason #1 or other internet hi-jinxs.
3. The Dead Hand. This program has no human behind it. Once upon a time it was created for either reason #1 or #2, but the creator has either moved on to something else or wait for it...forgot their password and now the program is just kind of doing it's own thing be-bopping around the internet from host to host.

We had the problem here. He needs to change the registration settings so that bots can't get in. I first had it set to anti spam and that did nothing. Then I had it set to admin approved for a while and it was overwhelming.

That's why I have the question like 2 + two p l u s another t w o

The bots can't answer it like that

He's Cell, from Dragon Ball Z. Cell was created by Dr. Gero of the Red Ribbon Army. Gero created Cell using a super computer that captured the DNA of all of the universe's greatest warriors (Goku, Vegeta, probably Yajirobe) to create the greatest fighter in the universe. Cell could use his scorpion-like tail to absorb more energy from living masses, & grows stronger each time.

Gero himself stopped working on Cell early on in the developement, as it would take years for him to be complete. So, he just had the computer do all the dirty work. I believe it was meant for Cell to combine w/ Gero (who turned himself into an android) @ the end, but Gero went & got himself killed.

That's as far as I watched DBZ. I never got to the end of the cell saga, because I think Cartoon Network dropped Toonami. Fortunately, Channel 9 shows a truncated DBZ Kai on Saturday mornings, so now I'm catching up on it.

Someone from India would do it for about $5/hour.

I think each post should be preceded by a math or spelling test ... clear out some of the chaff around here.

Easy enough to write a parser to read that. Even with the spaces.

It's probably a fact finding mission, one which you seem to pass if they don't keep on going.

They also just might be bored with no real outlet for their knowledge so they just try and mess with as many American websites as possible. If the posts showed up automatically, you'd probably be dealing with much more.

BigFan,

Just ask Terry's Peeps about it.

He's a real answer man, he's got it all figured out.

I'd change the registration settings so that bots can't get in. I don't think anti spam does anything. Nor does admin approved. That just gets overwhelming.
