Can we even be sure that these are real and that the voice is really this Ronaiah Tuiasosopo?

Conspiracy Cover-Up Theory would tell us that these were manufactured to provide some cover to MAN-TIE GAYO.

What the hell is going in?

Lies on top of lies on top of Mantie on top of men....this is quite the rabbit hole.

If this isn't a cover up for being burrito, then he probably had phone sex with a guy. Which makes him burrito.

Or, its exactly what many have said. Te'o was taken for a ride and then joined in to save face towards the end.

I'm not even sure what's going on anymore. Not that I ever really was.

Bryan most likely correct, but I still am not buying everything he's selling...

That may be his side of the story, but there are so many flaws with it that there is virtually no chance that is the correct answer.

The simple answer is that he is gay and does not want to come out and hurt his draft stock. The whole picture lines up much better than Teo learning he was duped and then continuing the lie.

Just keep one thing in mind. If Teo was taken for a ride and then joined in to save face, he would have had to do it BEFORE her fake death since he was lying prior to the Michigan/Michigan State games about meeting her. This contradicts his story that he learned it around the Heisman trophy presentation.

And if that's true, then the fake death becomes an obvious Heisman attention grabbing scheme.

No its more likely what im saying is true.

No, it doesnt. If it did, he would have came out by now. There has never been a better time to be gay.

Disagree.

There are two things here.

Lying about meeting someone who you actually met online (something many people still do)

Lying about knowing a person is fake and faking their death.

So I would have to wholeheartedly dismiss your notion about the timeline.

I might be wrong, but I dont think so

There is never a good time to be gay for a professional football player, before their playing days are in the rear view mirror.

Compared to 20 or even 10 years ago, its a lot less restricting.

Im not saying its going to make his draft stock rise or anything, but at this point, if he's gay he should just come out

No, it's not possible, because the lying started well before the day he claims to have found out.

Are you insane? Name me another openly gay active male athlete in any of the major sports. Oh by the way, Teo happens to be Mormon and plays at a Catholic University. Yeah, that would have went over great.

So you are using the fact that he claims to have lied as a reason he's now telling the truth? That blows my mind. He's been lying non stop for years about this. No reason to believe he is telling the whole truth.

The lying about where they met is immaterial.

That is relatively normal behavior. He could have done that and not been in on the scheme. You understand that right?

No, that's your Rick way of spinning it

Ill explain, again.

Lying about meeting someone who you met online is EXTREMELY common. I have done it. Im sure many others here have done it as well. There are fucking E cards joking about it, that's how common it is.

That lie is totally separate from this other stuff.

Again, I dont KNOW what happened. I do know that it is very believable that he lied about meeting "her" online because he was embarrassed to have had to meet a girl online. That lie is completely separate from the overall hoax.

I see the people that openly hate Notre Dame think Te'o is guilty of everything. Shocking.

And Someguy, still waiting for any sort of theory you may have on this.

He's guilty of lying for sure, and most likely guilty of trying to cover up parts of and/or all of said lies.

Its now blowing up in his face. And its hilarious. Instead of coming clean right away, he has taken it this far.

Anyway, the truth HAS to come out eventually right?

Someday will know who was correct.

Im glad you guys are so confident in knowing what happened.

Im really not. Im just trying to apply logic and lend some perspective.

When this first started, people were ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that no one would have an online only relationship. We know that's false.

Now, Rick is using the fact that Te'o lied about the meeting to speak to his character. I would submit that telling that lie is not a big deal. I would compare it to a 19 year old kid telling his parents he met a girl at a football game when it was really a bar. (So mom and dad dont ask why he's in a bar)

Maybe Im crazy though

Did you ever check out that article I posted in one of these threads about 41% of people admitting to meeting online?

Do you still maintain there is ZERO stigma involved?

No, it's not. He claimed to have met her in person multiple times. He was lying about this case well before he supposedly found out it is a hoax. That is why your scenario is virtually impossible. You seem to think he continued the hoax once he found out. However, he was perpetrating some level of hoax for years. He was actively adding to it right around the death of his grandmother and her. He then continued to behave the EXACT same way after he supposedly found out. His behavior was unchanged.
rogers park bryan wrote:

I would consider it if he had announced it immediately when finding out about the hoax but he not only happened to pick it at the perfect time, but actively continued to behave the exact same way all the way up to the national title game.
rogers park bryan wrote:

Society yes, sports no. It's very plausible that Teo wanted to hide his homosexuality and this was a way to do it. It makes a lot more sense than his current explanation that he learned about this in early December and continued the hoax he was a "victim" of.
rogers park bryan wrote:

Being gay and doing things to hide the fact is EXTREMELY common too. What is your point? We aren't arguing that Teo lied about his relationship. We know he did. It's because she didn't exist. The questions are why would he do that, why would he continue to do it, and how could he have no interest whatsoever in meeting her. The answer to all of those questions have a logical explanation. He could have flown her out to one Notre Dame football game(oh wait, the car accident made that impossible! How lucky!). He could have flown out to see her. He could have skyped with her, or asked for another picture. Just let that sink in. He supposedly had 2 pictures of her!
rogers park bryan wrote:

The problem is that he seemingly was going along with the hoax for the whole time even when it reached absurd levels, and then when he supposedly learned of it, he continued it. No benefit of the doubt there.

What do you think happened?

-He knows Roahnia.
-They started this stuff for giggles and pub and because they are young/stupid.
-Mantie is gay, Rhoania may also be gay, they may be gay together.
-Things got too big, too fast, they tried to milk Kakua's death for the Heisman
-Now they are all caught up in lies, deceit, half-truths and such.

This whole mess has been built on lie after lie after lie after misdirection/misinformation etc. I believe that they are both involved from the beginning.

I wouldn't be surprised if his camp has reached out to ESPN to run cover and that these voice mails are part of that obfuscation.
