Don Beebe.

Incredible play when it didn't seem to matter.

Marcus Allen's 74 yard TD run in Super Bowl XVIII:

I had the winning SB squares numbers before this run on the last play of the 3rd quarter. And I'm a Raider fan. Talk about conflicted!

When he's right, he's right. (But I do fondly recall a certain 2nd Half onside kickoff a couple of years ago :joker: )

Allen's run was great. But the combination of eluding the sack, making an amazing throw and just as amazing catch makes the Giants play the clear cut winner of the greatest play in Superbowl history.

C'mon man! Some of these plays aren't even scoring TD's...

I will go with James Harrison going 100 yards on the pick six INT a few years ago. It was right before halftime of SuperBowl XLIII Steelers v. Cardinals. Bonus was at the end when Harrison lands on top of Laurence Fitzgerald at the goal line instead of being down at the 1 for the TD.

I hate to admit it considering what a pain in the keister the Giants have been to the Pack in recent years, but that play is far and away the greatest in Super Bowl™ history.

agreed due to the sheer chaos of the play and what was at stake with the undefeated season for the patriots, but the throw and catch from manning to mannigham in last years game was the most beautifully executed play this giants fan has ever seen.

How about Elway's play against the Packers when he needed a first down and did the helicopter.

I really loved the hope it gave me when Hester ran that opening kickoff back. Maybe not the greatest but for me it was wow.

Don Beebe and Leon Lett from a few days ago I think. Lett got himself into post career shape.

Can I change my answer? Porter clinching SB XLV for the Saints is the correct response.

That Jacoby Jones TD catch is on the short list.

Beautiful play...but the onside kick still turned the tide.

(I can't believe I'm having this discussion....about Saints greatness    )

Answer this. Why did the Colts make the playoffs after losing their coach for much of the year, whereas your Saints used the absence of their coach as an excuse on why they couldn't win?

A. The AFC blew & the playoff berth was relatively meaningless. It was a shit conference for the bottom 13 teams, and especially for that division (incl. the Great Texans  ) In short, who cared?!? (And btw, the Saints lost their chief play caller & motivator, the defense was turned upside down and their QB missed all of the preseason & didn't get into rhythm under week 5)

B. To channel my inner Bernstein, neither team got close to a title, so this was a meh year at best, at worst (apparently for you) just another reminder that the Colts got punished by my Saints not too long ago (and that Cleatus gave up the booty again when it mattered)

:D

But that's where Bernstein sounds ridiculous. If you think this season was the exact same for a Colts fan and a Saints fan(or anyone besides Baltimore), what the fuck fun is it to even follow sports? If I'm a Colts fan I loved this season. If I'm a Saints fan next season can't come fast enough. It sounds patently silly to think they should have the same effect on a fandom because they didn't win the title.

Make that "professional" sports then discover that you'll find that after you have kids playing their own games (& your long suffering teams finally actually won), AND that you're above the age of 40, it no longer holds the allure it once did.

Of course it doesn't help that imo, NFL football is on a continuing sled ride to full blown suckage.

Yet another reason I don't plan on having kids or making it to the age of 40. Live fast, die young, and leave an ugly as hell corpse, or something like that.

the game was still hanging in the balance even after the onside kick. the saints scored but the colts scored back. after TP's pick 6, the game was over. the colts made it interesting but outside of paranoid saints fans like me, it was pretty much over at that point.

I always liked this one from my childhood, though I wonder if it would even be considered a catch under today's rules:
