This story hasn't received a lot of attention and the teacher is still gainfully employed, but I suspect both of these will change. I love her facial expressions when she's being interviewed. From the Special Ed teacher in Terre Haute, IN: Quote: "Homosexual students come to me with their problems, and I don't agree with them, but I care about them. It's the same thing with my special needs kids, I think God puts everyone in our lives for a reason," said Madley.
"'So the same goes for gays? Do you think they have a purpose in life?' No I honestly don't. Sorry, but I don't. I don't understand it. A gay person isn't going to come up and make some change unless it's to realize that it was a choice and they're choosing God," said Medley. |

I thought the youth was trending away from bigoted views like these. Only in Indiana, I guess. We love the homosexuals but we do not condone what they're doing. No, no you don't love them. |

OK, soooo.... 1.) This is a public high school...Not sure how god has anything to do with education here.....this reminds me of the episode of Parks and Recreations with the gay penguins 2.) Quote: Demographics

The teacher's principal will take no action and cites her 1st Amendment rights. I find it funny that the statement on the school's website http://www.nesc.k12.in.us/news/letter.pdf, contains bad grammar, uses "I" but is not signed, and is not written on any type of letterhead. Way to teach the kids proper communication skills! Quote: I would like to clearly state the Northeast School Corporation has never denied any student the right to
attend prom or any other Northeast School Corporation sponsored event due to their race, gender, or sexual orientation. Furthermore, the Northeast School Corporation has never denied any student access to any events sponsored by Northeast School Corporation. This includes sports, plays, musicals and any other extra-curricular activities. In regards to the story that WTWO aired on February 10, 2013, the Northeast School Corporation employee that was interviewed was expressing her First Amendment rights. Northeast? Terre Haute is in western Indiana. You fail at geography as well as human decency. I was impressed that Terre Haute's NBC affiliate has the same graphic package that channel 5 had. |
