What are some things you did as a kid or games you made up as a kid that you're pretty sure nobody else did? (Sorry for the CGS type question, but I don't feel like re-wording it) My cousin and I used to play "Make me laugh", which of course was based on the TV game show. We'd set a time limit and try and make the other person laugh. Also, we played a game of tag in the basement with my sister and her friends called "Pooh Monster". It was called that as a result of my friend's little sister running her toy scooter through a turd that came out of her diaper. We started running from her and calling her The Pooh Monster, and hence every time we would play in the basement, we'd suggest playing "Pooh Monster". |

Wow, not even going to read this hateful thread! The title is enough! Why take a cheap shot @ Cairo? I didn't know you were like this, Jeffro! I'm ashamed, absolutely ashamed of your behavior now, young man. I want you to apologize to Kid right this minute! |

Getting back on topic, me & a friend of mine used to play a game where we tried to name things w/ a letter of the alphabet. One of us would start, "________ starting w/ the letter A", then we'd go through the whole alphabet. This was a good time killer while walking back to his house after school. |

My older brother and I did alot of travelling as kids with sports and going on trips with our dad. We came up with: The Cow Game You could only count cows on your side of the car window you were looking out of Count each cow you saw (counting/rounding by 5 if big field where no way to count each one) If you passed a fast food restaurant lose half your cows If you passed a church you got to keep (save) the number of cows you had at the time and they couldn't be taken away if you passed a fast food place Winner had the most cows when you got to destination Actually a great time passer and you can make up variaton rules - ie Mcdonalds killed all your cows or cheese places gave you 50 cows since they didn't kill them just used their milk. Lots of cows and cheese places in Wisconsin. |

i grew up at a time when bmx and freestyle bikes were the norm. Mongoose, GT, Redline, Diamondback, etc... our subdivision was essentially a circle route with a road that bisected the circle. We would play serious games of bike tag with 10-15 kids. cutting through yards. the guy that was "it" would have to put a flashlight on his bike so we could see him. sometimes we'd do versions of capture the flag on bikes. another bike game we would play was "close call." we'd ride in a driveway, as slow and close to each other as possible. if you put your foot on the ground, you were out. you were allowed to drop your bike to the ground, stand on it, and do a kick start-ride away... it was pretty fun...basically, bike balancing. we were 2 minutes from a cornfield, down a 80' decline in a valley at the mouth of the Fox River. there were lots of vacant lots that became bike trails, jumps, whoopdies, doubles, triples, banks, tree forts, etc... a couple of friends had driveways that led directly to boat ramps to the water. so, we'd built these ridiculously inclined wooden ramps, tie an orange life preserver to the handle bars, and do our best Matt Hoffman imitations without the fear of hitting earth. instead we'd fly off the ramp, do our 280's and smash into the water. the life preserver would float our bikes after landing. repeat x 50. On the Chain 'O Lakes, our subdivision was a peninsula surrounded by channels. so, in the winter you could walk to your buddies over ice faster than you could walk the roads or bike there. everyone had snowmobiles, or 3-wheelers, some guys had Yamaha/Kawasaki 125cc's or mini-bikes. We'd get a ski tow rope and sled behind one of the machines on the frozen channels. it was tubing on ice. we played an insane amount of two man, 3 man, & 4 man, wiffle and tennis baseball. past the pitcher was a single. hit the road on the fly, double, hit it over the road into the ditch, triple, hit it into the yard, home run. neighborhood 6" nerf softball games on one of our gradually inclining roads. pitchers hand out, running bases. the WAterway agency would open the McHenry Dam and drop the lake level a good 3 feet during the winter. right off our pier it was about 4' deep, so in the winter, it was a foot of ice along the seawall. when it was right around the thaw, we'd run along the seawall and the ice would break behind us. kind of like the "falling bridge" thing in movies. free for all checking, blocking, etc... anyway...if you got wet, you lost. It was awesome. |

Put on the nylon snowmobile suits, full face helmets, and turn off the lights in the basement- then play BB gun tag. As KS knows, don't bend over and present- the suit pulls tight and them BBs sting! |

La-Z Man Softball 16" softball without bases. We played in a field up against a pitched roof, so if we hit onto the roof it was a HR. If the ball went over the roof, it was an automatic grand slam. Hitting the building on a fly was a double, hitting on the ground past the 2 or 3 fielders was a single. If a flyball was not caught, or a grounder bobbled, it was a single. If a flyball was catchable and you let it drop to make an easier play, it was a single. Runners had to be forced home. Typically, games were 3 on 3 or 4 on 4, so that is why there were no bases. We would literally play for hours on end. Scored ended up being more like college basketball games than softball games. This was the summer where we were 15 or 16, before any of us owned cards. This went on 3-5 times a week depending on weather, and our summer school/work schedules. We would get to the park around noon, play softball until it was dark, then drink beer in my friends garage. It was pretty much the best summer even until we found out what blowjobs were. |
