Got season passes to Six Flags, so when we bring the kids up to see their grandma this summer we are going to spend a couple days at Great America. Need to get a hotel in there area for our family. Anyone have any recommendations for a good place to stay at a decent price?

I stayed here the night before a wedding: http://www.gurneegrandhotel.com/. It was cheap and less skeezy than the website would suggest. There's a day's inn near Zion that is OK too.

? There's a Best Western in downtown Zion that looks nice. The only Days Inn up there is by Great Lakes.

Key Lime Cove is supposed to be a fun place for the kids, and that's right across the street from Great America.

There's also a hotel on the water at Illinois Beach State Park that isn't bad.

If I remember anything from The Flintstones it's that Fred loved air hockey and having a secret family.

My advice is to not take advice from anyone who would recommend Days Inn or Best Western.

Fuck it, I'm gonna stay at this place.

This website, as part of it's search engine optimization, put "Glow in the dark hotel room". So, if you want to stay next to someone who searches AltaVista for "Glow in the dark hotel room" then this is your choice.

I may need corroboration from Don Tiny, but I'm pretty sure that chart reads wacka-wacka-wacka-wacka-wacka-wacka.

Wait, maybe I was at a different hotel, because that looks nothing like the place I stayed at. Or maybe I was on angel dust and everything evened out back to normal.

It's Zion. May as well be Alabama. You expected the Conrad Hilton?

Seriously. I can't look at these pictures without imagining some balding middle-aged man with a FUPA forlornly plugging away at his be-permed wife under the watchful gaze of four dead-eyed carousel horses.

I can understand somewhat where you're coming from with regards to Days Inn, but Best Westerns have consistently been solid for me.

Grand Gurnee Hotel is a shithole. The bar I go to most of the time is right next door, and we see people getting arrested out of there all the time. Key Lime Cove is good if you want to spend the money and take the kids to the waterpark after Six Flags hours. There is a Holiday Inn to the west of the Tri State that was just renovated. It is across the street from the mall, too.

You cannot stay at my house, but I will give you a tip to get into Six Flags quicker, if you would like...there is a back entrance on Washington St (south side of the park). The line at that one is always a lot shorter.

what are the hotels that are over by the mall?

Holiday Inn is across the street. Everything else is east of the Tri State and are your standard low-ish end motel chains.

RFDC: There is a Crapper Barrel right by Six Flags...it's there so you Mizzurahians feel at home.

Anyone have any experience with this Ramada?

http://www.ramadawg.com/

200 N Green Bay Rd
Grand Ave & Green Bay Rd
Waukegan , IL 60085

The reviews are a mixed bag, some good, some bad. The big pros for us is they have a family suite with 3 queen size beds that is pretty cheap. We are not wanting anything fancy and we are not going to be there much at all. Just want a decent place to sleep with a breakfast in the morning.
