The thought that always crosses my mind is would the joker behave the same way if they or a family member were directly affected.

Not saying it's right or wrong, but maybe some time should be given before the open mic starts...

If they're funny, I'm all for it. But most times it seems like people rush to make a joke and usually swing and miss.

Way too easy and predictable?

It was on a tee for him. So, no, not funny.

I don't respect anyone who goes for low-hanging fruit as far as comedy is concerned. If you think you're funny, then you should strive to be more creative and less obvious. Never take the easiest joke.

I thought the Ross joke was ok. Definitely served its Shock purpose.

I dont know.

I just like to laugh in lieu of getting angry or sad. At least temporarily.

IMO it just depends on the person. There is no right or wrong answer here. A lot of people use humor to deal with situations, others don't.

I don't see the need in getting offended by it regardless of which side of that line people fall.

But it sucks for the families. Put yourself in their shoes if you lost someone who meant the world to you.

The jokes wouldn't help me laugh my way through it. It would further solidify my thought that the world is indeed fucked up. Not only did somebody kill my loved one, my fellow countrymen have decided to try out their best attempts at humor...

Exactly. Obviously humor is subjective, but this is usually the time when unfunny people grab OKC's low hanging fruit. If you'll pardon the expression. I was mad at myself, but I laughed at RFDC's joke yesterday. I tend to stay away from humor during these moments.

I may be delving into semantics, but don't you have to be affected directly by the tragedy to be offended? You can say it's offensive, but that doesn't mean you're offended personally. Or maybe I'm 100% off.

I feel differently

I laughed at many MAN SHE WAS OLD jokes when my Grandma died. She was closer to me than my mom.

I dont know if that qualifies as over the line, but she would have definitely laughed at them, so I did too.

Im unsure on this whole thing.

I would probably be ok with it if the joke was funny. I understand that not everyone would feel the same.

Bull. Shit.

Maybe you don't joke about tragedies like this, Kid, but its a flat out lie to say that you "don't take the easy jokes."

Way different.

I'm assuming she wasn't murdered and you were left looking for answers.

Do you think the family of the 8 year old boy would dig the jokes? Would it help them with the answers they need? Would it help them put things in perspective and laugh their way through it?
