I gotta admit, I HATE Mother's Day. Too much stress, trying to make it special for my own high-maintenance mother and not-so-high-maintenance wife. My kids are too little to do anything on their own, so I have to manage them too. Anyway, I'm making crepes for the morning breakfast for the wife. We just got her an i-phone (her first smart phone). she couldn't wait any longer, even though it was supposed to be for Mothers day. For ma, we are bringing the fondue set out to her house and making cheese fondue (she's never had an authentic one). Also giving her some prints of my photos. just the fact that I'm willing to drive an hour out to Algonquin should be present enough. |

Thinking of going out to my parent's gravesite/headstone and removing the tacky vases that my sister had glued on. Anyone know how to dissolve glue that won't damage marble? Family sucks. |

Nothing, wish I could spend it with my mom but she is in Tennessee. We will celebrate it when she gets here next week. |

Going out to dinner on Saturday nite with my parents. The lady is on call Sunday so she has to stay near the house. Having her mom and brothers over on Sunday for either Pop's Beef or Popeye's chicken, whatever the future MIL decides. |

We usually take my grandmother (father's mom) out to dinner. I'll be delivering flowers all weekend for some extra $$$. |

My aunt had a floral shop when I was growing up. Delivered for her on weekends to make a few bucks. Valentine's Day and Mother's Day we're nightmares. For this weekend, maybe go out to dinner. Thinking of doing a last minute BBQ, but weather doesn't look great. |

I hate sending people flowers. It seems like such a waste of money. For Valentine's Day, I'll get my wife a rose because one rose is cheap. Sent my mom an edible arrangement which at least has some value after you look at it and I'll wish her a Happy Mothers Day on Facebook. |

If I pulled some shit like that, my mother wouldn't speak to me for a week and give me a lifetime guilt trip. |

I'll be going for Mexican food w/ my mom. |

Mrs. Newper and her mom and I (and kids, when applicable) usually head out to some Indiana based nurseries to get some vegetables and flowers for planting. So we're doing that again. Mama Newper is watching my sister's dog this weekend while she is at some wedding in Tennessee or something, so I owe it to her later. She's pretty laid back as a mom, so I'm not too stressed out about it. |

I know it's not your cup of tea but that is exactly the plan. Wives take their mother to lunch while us guys get there at 11:00 or so with coolers and chairs. We save our space and enjoy a few beverages while doing some handicapping (and at the same time maybe wander in and wager a couple east coast races). The wives show up around 2 and it is a good time. $5 cover charge for coolers and bags this year however and the weather may be less than ideal |

My mom will actually be in town from South Carolina so probably go out to dinner somewhere with her and my dad. I think we are couch shopping that day when they get here. |

I went with a friend to Steinhafels last night which is a big place next to Woodmans. They are running a big sale right now on stuff so if you haven't been it may be worth looking at. Lots of options, I just need to find a sectional to fit my relatively small great room. I haven't purchased a couch in many years and being a single guy, they are a bit more than I remember. Thankfully that is the only major purchase I need to make for the move. Already bought a washer and dryer. |
