Anyone think it is strange they are telling people to not donate anything but money?
I mean you would think they would at least want food or cleaning products. The thing is Red Cross is in shaky financial state right now and when you donate they put it in a general fund even if you tell them where you want them to use it.

Also,as I do not feel like starting shit. Nice terrorist attack in London today. Religion of Peace at it once again.

This is somewhat anecdotal, but might provide some insight into these natural disasters/ relief efforts.

I was all over the northeast after Sandy, doing some relief/ volunteering, and some contract work assisting in general cleanup/ demo and salvage. One of the many entities i came into contact with frequently was the Red Cross. Overwhelmingly, many of their contractors and volunteer orgs. around the region were doing fundraisers, coat drives and the like. They would wind up with so many clothing items, cleaning supplies, etc. that there would literally be warehouses and container trucks full of this type of stuff that literally-- nobody needed.

The main thing needed was staple stuff.. medical supplies, hot meals, and things like mobile charging stations (basically, small generators where mobile devices could be charged and small stoves could heat canned food, etc.) .. and also just connecting people with the ability to email, contact loved ones, and register for the particular relief agencies etc.

All of these things cost money. I'm not saying the Red Cross isn't without their administrative issues, I don't really have the firsthand knowledge to give you any opinion on that.
