Man Fatally Shot Trying To Rob People Waiting For New LeBron Sneakers According to Atlanta police, a man was shot and killed outside a clothing store while customers waited for the release of Nike's new LeBron X EXT sneakers early Saturday morning. The man was trying to rob a group in line when another man waiting for the sneakers pulled a gun (for which he apparently had a concealed-weapons permit) and shot him. After he was shot, the man "ran just a few yards, then collapsed and died." According to a nearby parking attendant, a man had been trying to pickpocket people in that area all week, where at least one witness had been waiting for the $180 sneakers since Monday. Police responded to the shooting at 5:30 a.m. Saturday and the sneakers were to go on sale at noon. Police have not charged anyone and for now consider the shooting to be self-defense. No additional information was being released Sunday morning, said Officer John Chafee, an Atlanta Police Department spokesman. βHe [the shooter] really stood up for all of us,β said Taylor White, who told Channel 2 that he was in line when the shooting happened. βI salute the homie that did that.β After shooting the would-be robber, the as-yet-unidentified man got back in line. |

this reminds me of that legendary tale about some ~60-70 year old guy in england who was asleep in bed with his wife in the middle of the night when he heard the sounds of burglar/s downstairs. he called the police who said something to the effect of "we're way too busy right now, so lock yourself in your room and try not to draw attention to yourself and we'll have an officer come by in the morning to file a report for the insurance claims" yeah. seriously.... "to protect and serve" = we're technically NOT here to ensure YOUR safety, as we're trying to respond to crime in the easiest/least-confrontational way possible. the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the you; standard starfleet protocol, aka semantics. so basically up shit's creek without a paddle, the guy slowly counted to 100 and then called back the 911-equivalent and said "yeah hey i called a few minutes ago about the burglary in progress? yeah don't worry about that, i grabbed my gun and shot the guy so you can just have someone come by tomorrow to pick up the body and do the paperwork for the insurance claims" within ~5 minutes there were ~10+ heavily armed swat people over ready to nab the guy and his gun. of course, they ended up catching the burglar in the act.... surprise surprise. naturally, the burglary victim was charged with some sort of offense for misuse/abuse of the 911 system. at least his house wasn't completely robbed, eh? but yeah, c'est la vie..... i guess we're fortunate that our system is turning towards thoughtcrime/precognitive-protection so a good % of average people will have far less likelihood of being able to commit crimes, thus leaving the ~1-5% of people who are hardcore criminals to do their things. they'll say that crime #s went down in come statistics relative to some arbitrary time period that makes the powers that be sound good, and of course, in the future there will be harsher penalties for our protagonist here who had the sheer audacity to act all greedy and manipulate the system for their nefarious ends. when the police say let the guy rob you, you are to 100.0% listen to the police and not disobey orders, peasant, otherwise you'll end up with a police record which means less likelihood to get a good solid job and means less $$$ for you and, therefore, less stuff there for criminals to come and rob, which means CRIME = PREVENTED. * slams table * shomer shabbos! |
