This weekend at a suburban fest,I caught 5 young ladies (about 15 years old?) that formed a rock/pop group. The guitars and drums were barely passable (still ok though) but the 2 girls who sang were great. They did all the current music, plus a few oldies. I guess they were put together by the guy who teaches them music out of his Arlington Hts. music shop.

this reminds me of last week's monumental new america's got talent where two 10 year olds came out and one girl quasi-fake-dj'd pop song beats with overt scratches and the other barely kept up reciting pop lyrics. the judges fell all over themselves to call the kids great and original and the future.

more proof we live in a goddamn echo chamber now aided bigtime by twitter and facebook.

Don't forget that this thread was started by the guy who posted the latest Miley Cyrus video.

That thread was started because I thought she was really trying too hard to be cutting edge and cool.

If I ever have kids, I don't want daughters. I never want to be the uber-authority-figure dad who is like "YOU think YOU can date MY daughter??? You must first prove your worth and manliness AND YOU MUST HAVE HER HOME BY TEN ON THE DOT." Guys like that, you practically want to rail their daughters just to spite them. I'd rather have a son and just be like "don't be dumb, but do better than I did at your age."

I was always nice to my daughters boyfriends but she got a few "your dad is scary" comments in the past. It's fun being "scary".

I was never "shown" a gun collection, but I had to deal with a dad who didn't like my inability to assemble and disassemble things, and basically gave me the silent treatment--like, seriously, walked into a room and acknowledged every person but me, dogs too--after it was clear that I wasn't the right kind of Good Christian High-Earning Alpha Male. Wasn't fun. Those dads blow. I wish them ill.

Tell him all you need to disassemble is his daughters bra strap.

i was on the lake the other day and this 50year old guy made his 14yo daughter swim over to meet me. he knew i was twice her age too. she had big tits and didnt act that young, but i did my best to keep my eyes off. she definitely wasnt annoyed to meet me, but i felt totally awkward. once you get the age gap far enough that you could be her father, its just weird. i dont think the dad was implying i should ask her out, he was just being friendly because he was drunk. he was a cool guy
