For the budding legal minds on the board....

No-compete clauses....

How do they stack up in Illinois? What makes a solid one and what makes a one that is easy to maneuver out of.

If you are looking to legally challenge one, what is the best way to go about it.

So on and so forth.

Best Regards,

SomeGuy.

They have to be written in a very specific way to hold up. They must not be too broad. Also, if you've been working without one, you generally can't be forced into signing one without it being tied to another event, i.e. a promotion.

If I were trying to bust one I'd call Dan Mathless at (312) 431-1236. He's in the Monadnock Building. I would recommend him to anyone.

Non competes are common in my business, but thankfully I don't have one. I know a few guys who had non competes & when they looked into fighting it, it wasn't worth it to them to go through the hassle & expense.
