-There's no way Theo wants Sveum handling the real team when the time comes. I'm sure he'll be gone. He's just the babysitter. -Maybe Thome is the back up, but is he really any good? Sure, he's the nicest guy in the world, and one of the only possible roid guys that 99% of people refuse to accuse of anything, but is he manager material? -Out of respect for W_Z, I'll ignore this one... -Forte has been overrated for a while now. Definitely not a 1st round pick, and that's if his whiny ass can stay healthy. Sorry, I'm just not a fan. -Bears? I'll skip it. I haven't paid any attention yet. -There are some very nice RV/mobile homes and if I didn't live in the Chicagoland area with the weather we have here, I'd really consider getting one, but your father-in-law is right, you do need somewhere to put it and hook it up. Could be great to get and possibly leave hooked up in a camp ground or something though... |

FBI Meets Plane in Philly After Apparent Threat Associated Press PHILADELPHIA August 7, 2013 (AP) Federal authorities are at Philadelphia's airport because of an apparent bomb threat made in connection with an incoming flight from Ireland. USAirways Flight 777 from Shannon landed at Philadelphia International Airport on Wednesday afternoon. Law enforcement officials met the plane on the tarmac and passengers exited the jet to waiting buses. FBI spokeswoman Carrie Adamowski says agents are assisting Transportation Security Administration officials in the investigation. Police and airport officials say they don't have any specifics about the apparent threat or details about from where it may have originated. U.S. customs officials have screening facilities at Shannon Airport and the passengers aboard the plane would have gone through them before boarding. |

Burglars return stolen computers to nonprofit — along with apology note By Willian Avila, NBCLosAngeles.com Burglars who stole computers from an office building in the suburbs of Los Angeles returned the items – along with a letter of apology – after apparently realizing they had ransacked a nonprofit that helps victims of sexual violence. The thieves broke into the San Bernardino County Sexual Assault Services office on the night of July 31, police said. They apparently came in through the ceiling about 10 p.m. and hurriedly took several computer towers and monitors, along with a laptop. "One of the officers had talked to some transients around the street about what was going on. He was telling them about what we do," Stallings said. The following morning about 4:30 a.m., Stallings said she got another call from police about suspicious activity taking place at her office. This time when Stallings arrived, she was astonished by what she found. "All my stuff was in front of the door," Stallings said. "There was a shopping cart, and there were the PCs that were taken, there was the laptop - everything was there." An investigator who was about to dust the laptop for fingerprints opened it and found a note tucked inside. "We had no idea what we were takeing. Here your stuff back we hope that you guys can continue to make a difference in peoples live. God bless," said the note with misspellings. "We were all pretty shocked," Stallings said. "You've got to be kidding me. I was in disbelief, I got chills, I got very emotional." Some of the officers were surprised, too. "This is the first time in my career I have seen the return of stolen items," said San Bernardino Police Lt. Paul Williams. "It appears the guilt of taking the property caused the return of the items." Stallings said the note was taken as evidence. She said she made a photo copy of it and plans to frame it. Who knew DrunkChas was in California? |

It was just a play on the title of the thread Joe. But I can add to it today.....yesterday, while filming an episode of Chicago fire (I play a prison guard) they filmed a scene with Colin Powell's Daughter, who plays the part of the Mother of one of the fire fighters, who rushes into a burning restaurant to save his dead Father's war medals (framed) from being destroyed in the fire. She did a very nice job in the scene. |

My top five US Generals 1) George Washington - Bit of an easy pick here. His accomplishments as first President certainly overshadow his role as a General, but he was a great leader of men, military or otherwise. After cutting his teeth in the French/Indian War, Washington really shone as a leader once he took command of the Continental Army. At the time, the army was highly disorganized and morale was not where it could be. Washington implemented regimentation and was able to more effectively command. Driving Sir William Howe out of Boston was a key moment in the battle for independence, and he even showed some acumen when it came to withdrawing troops from New York once it was clear his attack had failed. He managed to hold off the British with about 15,000 men tops (and some help from the French) which gives him #1 in my book. 2) Robert E. Lee - Confederate but in my opinion, best General of the Civil War. Many people don't know that he was offered the role of General in the Union, but he declined once his home state of Virginia seceded from the Union. A bold tactician, he was able to pull off several bluffs including forcing McClellan's withdrawl, and the beat down of Pope at Bull Run II. Like Washington, he was able to do more with less, often times standing his ground with half the men that the Union was bringing. Gettysburg proved to be his Waterloo where his aggression rightly did him more harm than good. Overall, you have to respect the man and what he was able to accomplish. 3) Douglas MacArthur - Learned a lot from WWII, and perhaps his losses there did more for him in Korea than he could have had from his victories. Holding a perimiter in southern Korea, he was able to send an attack force into northeastern Korea, and pinch them together. This resulted in tragic losses for the North Korean army, and perhaps this fueled his ego as he began knocking at the door of China. Wisely back home, we realized that China wasn't the enemy we wanted to get involved with, so he was pulled back from the field, however, his highly efficient attacks and low casualty rates have to give him a place in the top five. 4) John Pershing - President Wilson sent Pershing to France to begin the build up of the American army in WWI. The French seeing the amount of men present, asked if Pershing would report through their chain of command. Pershing refused to do so -- and as the French tallied casualty after casualty after fighting straight up trench warfare, Pershing came up with the idea of fighting along the flanks. He also was the first to use airstrikes ahead of his advances to weaken the enemy position instead of just relying on artillery. He was the only living General during his lifetime. With his leadership and refusal to follow the French, thousands of American lives were likely saved. 5) Ulysses S Grant - Like many other Civil War leaders, he cut his teeth during the Mexican-American war. However, as a brigadier general, he was able to seize strongholds along the Mississippi, eventually joining up with the other Union forces in New Orleans. This effectively divided the South and provided a much faster and reliable supply chain to the battle fronts. Although considered a drunkard by many others in the army, Lincoln recognized him as an excellent tactician and planner and insisted that he remain in charge. Very resolute in his cause, Grant would go on to push Lee out of Virginia and lead to his unconditional surrender at Appomattox. US Grant is the Yin to Washington's Yang, his career is much better known for his Generalship on the battlefield than his rather poor Presidency. |

A small white guy goes into an elevator, when he gets in he notices a huge black dude standing next to him. The big black dude looks down upon the small white guy and says: "7 foot tall, 350 pounds, 20 inch tomato, 3 pound left ball, 3 pound right ball, Turner Brown" The small white guy faints!! The big black dude picks up the small white guy and brings him to, slapping his face and shaking him and asks the small white guy. "What's wrong?". The small white guy says; "Excuse me but what did you say?". The big black dude looks down and says "7 foot tall, 350 pounds, 20 inch tomato, 3 pound left ball, 3 pound right ball, my name is Turner Brown." The small white guy says, "Thank god, I thought you said 'Turn around. '" |
