Return of Jay Mariotti: Launches own site that includes M-F radio show

He’s baaackkkkk.

After what he describes as a “much-needed” break that lasted three years, Jay Mariotti is jumping back in.

This morning, the former Chicago Sun-Times columnist and member of ESPN’s Around The Horn launched Mariottishow.com. In an email, Mariotti writes:

“We’re launching a national multimedia site that we think is innovative because it wraps my three-hour national daily radio show around a site of my 24/7 content — columns, short opinion hits, videos, audience interaction via Twitter and email, a travelogue of sports and restaurants and who knows what.”

Mariotti writes that he is teaming with Genesis Communications, a Florida company that is “paying me for the content and the show.” The Genesis site has six channels with programming, featuring numerous shows.

Day 1 for Mariotti’s new site has columns on Alex Rodriguez (“tragic”), Johnny Manziel (“crashing”), and the upcoming battle between ESPN and Fox Sports 1 (“LOL”). It also has a video comparing Michael Jordan and LeBron James (“please”). As usual, Mariotti has plenty to say.

The M-F radio show will begin Monday, running from noon-3 p.m. ET.

Yes, he stirs the pot just to get a reaction sometimes, but then again, it was his job!

That was TB's job when he was at the Sun Times. Just get people talking , no matter how you did it!

He was reporter that covered various sports. Anne Maxfield's career at the Score was an eternity compared to the time Terry spent trying to be a columnist.

Never forget: Mariotti's was beating B&B in the ratings around the time he left.

I think Terry for a time was in fact also the main columnist.

i take it domestic violence wont be discussed on this website/radio show.... i bet you wouldnt have to wait on hold long if you wanted to participate

wasn't there video of and witnesses to the attack? I think it happened in his or her building lobby.

He was Whitlock's first guest when Whitlock started up his podcast a couple years ago.

He may have been falsely accused of that. He has a believable defense.


Anyway, I like Jay as a writer

I thought there were multiple incidents. The one I remember was Jay being physical with the woman because she was talking to another guy. Just like Jay not to focus his anger on the guy.

I will continue to write what I have always written about his style, a great writer does more than craft a few sentences together into a logical paragraph. Jay is not a great writer. He is an adequate wordsmith. It's the difference between being a painter and being an artist.

Did you read him everyday?

He was certainly miles above the other columnists in this city (Im talking 95 and after)

I read Marriotti more than anyone else.

It may have been the only reason I paid for a Sun Times over the last 10 years

It's been free online for 10 years.

Also, I'm sick of hearing what a wordsmith he was.
Bullshit.
He made up way too many stupid nicknames and just beat them to death for him to be this gifted wordsmith.
I think a TALENTED writer could find more creative insults than "McFail"
