Anyone notice auctions tend to go for higher sale then buy it now?

I have seen this over the years, and never understood it. its like a game people just play, even if they can buy it now for cheaper they would rather win the auction they bid on.

More shocking, I just had a tv board on there for 5 days, b.i.n. for $125. on day 4, no hits. it went to auction, and 9 bids totaled for $149+ship!

I just dont get it. i almost always use b.i.n because it never seems to be much more if at all cheaper then waiting and winning an auction.... weird ass ebay people....

Some people like the thrill of the hunt. Although smart people should use bid snipers and let the sniping program do the hard work.

Maybe more often then not.. but this tv board I sold is a rare item, the fact that it was on ebay makes it valuable in itself... I just dont understand why when it was up for a really good price nobody wanted it- not until they outbid eachother.

I wonder if people just look for auctions and dont even bother including bin's in searches.

did you change the listing? maybe people couldnt find it... i always search the recent sold prices for an item... and then if a BIN price is in line with those, I'll do it

Some of my favorite stuff on eBay was probably oh 7 years ago or so when people still bought DVDs... Best Buy would get a new release and sell it for $24.99 or something and I'd see them bid on eBay for $40.00 and up.

never changed the listing. this happens a lot... BIN's go for less then auctions. its just weird. i think people actually believe the auction will always be cheaper or something.
