When I click the link "View active topics" in the message board's header, I keep getting this message, "Sorry but you cannot use search at this time. Please try again in a few minutes." Can you help me with advice on how I can fix it? I've tried rebooting my computer and upgrading Windows, but still I see this message.

Are you being serious? I'm thinking probably not.

If you are serious, it's just a temp glitch in the web site. Has nothing to do with your computer.

Sure. If that helps you better understand this crisis situation. Exactly like a glitch in the Matrix.

My laptop won't start up anymore. You can hear it try, but the screen won't turn on and it powers back down. The fan starts going and sounds like it can't get full power for some reason. It's an HP Inspiron Something-or-Other. Do I need a new battery?

Try starting it up with it plugged into a wall outlet. Even with a near dead battery it should be able to work.

Is the screen turning on? i.e. is their an image?

Yeah, I've done that. Still doesn't work. No image. The screen doesn't turn on and holding down the power button doesn't seem to turn the thing off either...

Take battery out and leave unplugged from wall. Hold down power button for 10 sec. This will discharge any electricity still in laptop. Leave battery out and plug into wall and try to boot up. If it still doesn't boot most likely bad motherboard. If it does boot up wait about 10 or 15 min before putting battery back in to see if it charges.
