Any recommendations on sights and places to eat between LAX and San Luis Obispo would be greatly appreciated.

I have family in San Lois Obispo. I have never been there but here it beautiful and isolated. I also have family in Beverly Hills. I have been there and it's not all it's cracked up to be. Seedy areas mixed in with the very rich areas. The zoning laws in LA are non-existent.
