This isn't a thread to bitch about the military, or Obama, or Syria, or TSA, or anything else political.

Today, take a moment to reflect on the thousands of innocent people and first responders that lost their lives 12 years ago today. It was a sad and terrible day in American history. God bless those who perished wherever you may be today.

I put my flag out in front of the house before I left for work today.

I'm thankful that CGS isn't here to start the annual "where were you when it happened" thread.

Good point on keeping it clean thread. Very sad day.

As my own way of remembrance, just like I did on September 11th in 2001, I am taking a shower today.

Ugie Friday Bordeom Thread: Where were you when CGS wasn't there to ask you where you were on 09-11-11?

After the first person disagrees with her, the America hating, baby-bombing, terrorist loving, comments come out full force. Of course, I added those commas. They would never be in a CGS post.

I hope for her sake, that she has been institutionalized.

Was thinking about how much social media has changed since 2001. I'm thankful that picture/video sharing wasn't as prevalent then as it is now. The video/images we do have are difficult enough to see, I can't imagine what would have been captured by every person with a smart phone that day.

I've always gone with the "where were you the first time someone asked where you were on 9/11?"

Someone must've forgot.

http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_coverage/2013/09/boston_airport_apologizes_for_fire_drill_on_911

BOSTON — Officials at Boston's Logan Airport are apologizing for holding a fire drill, complete with smoke and flames, on the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

The two hijacked jets that were flown into the World Trade Center towers that day had taken off from Logan.

Gov. Deval Patrick, who did not know in advance about the drill, calls the timing of it "dumb." But he adds that he retained confidence in the leadership of the Massachusetts Port Authority, the public agency that runs the airport.

The runway fire drill, announced on the airport's Facebook page, drew harsh condemnation online.

The port authority has apologized in a statement and says it "understands that it may have offended many of those touched by the events of Sept. 11."

And so, over time, you make a mental note to not say anything too weird, or make crude jokes, or think too far outside the box. Anyone attend the Million Muslim March?

http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local ... 15411.html

Forget about how tone deaf such a thing is on 9/11, check this shit out: "Organizers from the American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC) say they are "patriotic Muslims" who are demanding new laws to protect their First Amendment rights."

Don't the current laws cover their First Amendment rights? Besides that, I guess these Muslims are interested in free speech so long as it isn't a joke about "the messenger."

I think what a lot of Americans might forget is that 3 tragedies occurred that day.
The hero's on that one faithful flight that crash landed in PA. & of course the horrific crash into the Pentagon. I'll never forget the news of that Pentagon crash. You start to wonder what the hell was next. I also remember people in other countries celebrating the news with parades, but they were in the minority (I hope!)

I'm not conspiracy-theorizing, but you'd think they'd have talked about a plane crashing into the fucking Pentagon a little more than they have.

I agree. To be honest, outside of knowing what happened,I can't give specifics on that Pentagon tragedy. A lot of good people died there, too.

He's got a point. I bet ya half of the people posting "America! Fuck yeah!" stuff on my list couldn't tell you how many planes there were.
