So somebody started the meal train. Meal train is a website you can schedule when you're going to drop off dinner for somebody who needs it. Just had a baby, is sick, whatever.

There's a sixth-grader at our school, her parents died over the summer. Somebody who lived on the block, the dad of my son's classmate robbed their house. What is my obligation here? It looks like he is going to jail, he has past history of theft. Another mom started a meal train to take for the family.

I feel horrible for the kids and kind of want to help them...but where was their sense of community? How sick do you have to be to steal from a sixth grader that just lost her parents an I don't want to condone it.

What do I do? I'm pretty sure the wife knew.

In 12 years of living here this is a first and odd. I think it's a really good town for lots of reasons.

he says things seem to be getting a little worse. He's up just north of the main drag and while they love the downtown their street's a little shady.

downtown Downers reminds me of Geneva or Naperville....

Downers isn't that big. The dt area isn't as good as Naperville. The north side is weird. Some have lots of money to the point where it's bizarre but don't know if they could afford hinsdale or burr ridge. A few could but they like being big fishes in a small pond.

Other parts of north are very average. What does your friend say about it? It'd be interesting to hear. The north side looks down on us folk, I can't imagine anything not being perfect there.

I wouldn't contribute to the robbing family, FWIW.

In these situations, follow your conscience, whatever that may be. Justifying/rationalizing your actions just contributes to the drama of the situation. I don't like drama.

they were south siders and then some shmo came along and stole their rental to build a mc mansion. They now live on main street, I think just north of the main drag and that particular street is a little bit unsafe apparently. They don't have money to burn and I think they're wanting to move a bit further west so they can afford something. They do love the downtown but I'm sure they'd love Naperville far more. I thought the downtown was decent but not what they made it out to be. The best downtown still in my opinion is Geneva. The Harrington is a wonderful place to stay, right on the river.

I wouldn't be happy in Naperville. The napervillians are crazy. Too much money or not enough and a huge huge drug problem in the high schools.

he's a private school kinda guy, so that would probably be ok. I have heard Naperville's populated by schmucks, so maybe that's a bad idea.

Whoa whoa whoa, as Pierce Downer's (the founder of Downer's Grove) Great Great Great Great Grandson (and my fuckin' middle name is Downer, ugh) I'm going to need everybody to personally apologize for any disparaging remarks about the town he founded in 1832 and that let me ride in a parade in 1982 for their Sesquicentennial celebration. Yes, I moved out of the DG last year though, so sue me.

So the issue is you want to help this family but you are mad because you suspect them of being in on the robbery.

Simple, throw a can of Chef Boyardee through their window.

Know a decent amount about him. Have a crate full of family heirlooms, including a daguerreotype of Pierce. I stop by the family graveyard every once in a while and feel bad for the family whose house has it in their backyard.

Pierce downer has parties where the women dress "sexy" and they get touchy freely and drunk and people go up to bedrooms. I don't know what happens after that.

I think Slash has been banned from Naperville after this year's Ribfest. He said "fuck" a lot and the town mothers looked horrified.
