Comet ISON is passing Mars and it still on pace to be a spectacular comet for us in December. It will pass thru the atmosphere of the Sun on Thanksgiving. Should it survive, and it's quite possible it will, it could emerge as the brightest comet of the last 500 years. Certainly something to share with your family and friends and loved ones and maybe Frank. As of tonight, if you draw a line from Regulus to Mars ISON is just past Mars rising in the East just before sunset. This could be huge, be a part of it. |

It being brightest on Thanksgiving is a clear sign of americuhs favored status with the Almighty Can those of us who live in locales with electricity and indoor plumbing view it or is that reserved for you unfortunate others? |

It won't be brightest on Thanksgiving. THat's when it cruises thru the Sun's Atmosphere. It will be the following weeks when it will be brightest. And it's quite possible that you can see it in broad daylight, it could be that bright. |

Hatchetman wrote: am I supposed to be looking now or in December? You'd need a telescope to see it now. Maybe under very very dark skies with binocs. It's really gonna pop after Thanksgiving. Assuming it doesn't melt completely into absolutely nothing on Thanksgiving... |

ISON is now in Virgo and has sprouted a second tail, just like Eaglo Jeff. I'll explain the second tail if anyone cares. Something tells me no one would but maybe?? Maybe? |

Hey Darkside what's up with the second tail??? |

mcbrides wrote: Hey Darkside what's up with the second tail??? Well you see one is an ion trail, and ions will point directly away from the sun because they're blown from the comet by the solar wind. The brighter tail is a dust trail, and will trail behind the path of the comet. The dust particles are too big to be blown by the solar wind. |

Reason will need a set of double-dark Ronnie Milsap sunglasses, if that answers the question. |

It's over. It's all over. The comet likely did not survive it's trip around the sun. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?sectio ... le-9343241 |

so we're not dead? channel 2 doesn't have to interrupt its' bears coverage to show us giant radars zoomed in so the whole screen is SEVERE RED spliced together shit shots of destruction and carnage every 30 seconds? honestly i thought we'd be dead. i guess i gotta repay those loan sharks back even tho with 10 fingers going i've got a few to burn before things get really tricky. |
