Theo knew exactly what he was doing. The average fan does not understand the ways of his genius. Sveum was the right man at the right time and Theo knew when to end it. Then Theo fooled everyone into thinking he wanted Girardi when he really wanted Renteria. The thing we don't know is if Renteria is just another step along the path to glory the way Sveum was or if he is Theo's choice to win the World Series.

Don't know too much about this guy but I trust they make a good choice. One thing I heard on the
radio and agreed with was that it might be a good idea to have a manager with Latino roots based
on the guys coming up in the minors. He speaks fluent Spanish. I know this is very minor but I
hadn't considered it before.

I just want guys like RPB to know its not just in my head when I repeat this as fact.

Baez, Almora and Bryant would all look at him cross eyed if he spoke to them in Spanish. It reminds me of the story of the Spanish language reporter coming up to Carlos Quentin for an interview years ago. When the interview began, the reporter switched to Spanish to which Quentin replied "I don't speak Spanish". I think this whole idea is rife with bias while at the same time being heavily overstated.

Will the Cubs hire Richie Incognito as bench coach to toughen up Castro?

You have my word I will never argue for Renteria's hiring based on his latin roots

Wasn't this the same reasoning they trotted out when they gave Rudy Jaramillo 3 Million a year to watch Soriano strike out a bunch and not hit with runners in scoring position.
