Well I mean they will take some classes and the State of Illinois will acknowledge them as going to school. To be honest, its probably a great idea as the guys that dont make it might have some skills to get a job somewhere in the industry of sports. A guy like Ronnie fields I am sure will agree |

Seems like some incredibly pricey real estate for a sports academy- even if half of your "students" make it to The League, they'd have to tithe back to the alma mater to keep it afloat... |

It wouldnt surprise me if a few years from now hes either a head coach/ Security guard at a CPS school or Head Coach/ "Recruiter" at a Catholic school which would be a full time job. |

UNO has built a soccer academy so this is not much different. I think it is a bad idea but I'm not on the cutting edge of education like Bill. |

Cartwright claims it will emphasize much more than playing basketball. I know you will not be surprised by this, but at New Trier we had "The Alternative School" It was for kids who focused on areas of education that are not taught full time in HS. lol It was one hippie teacher who had some kids painting, playign guitar, etc. It was like a commune hippie high school. They used 3 classrooms in a part of the school nobody else went too on the 4th floor. Not really sure how it worked, etc, but not that much different. |
