The website shows a few different times so I'm hoping one of you can clarify. Live racing today? What time? And are kids still allowed in?

Taking kids to Hawthorne?

Going to Hawthorne reminds me of seeing one of those "Life after People" shows on H2!

Went to one of those "MH private events' where they gave us a "private" box, I emphasize the private part as they put us far away from the main floor and we got a small outside area to sit in, which they either keep clean or cleaned it off for us, but the other 4000 seats outside where covered in pigeon shit and corrosion.

When I go, I enjoy the appropriate seediness and underbelly of society, just not sure this is the kid place of the year?

I believe first post is at 1:20. Not only are kids welcome, you may abandon them to run wild throughout the grandstand.

I think I saw a John Hughes movie that started like this

First post is 1:20.

I actually enjoy being on the 2nd floor at Hawthorne as there's hardly no one up there. If you get there before 11AM I believe it's free.

The site is indeed confusing but xpressbet.com also states first race 1:20.

When I was there the day after thanksgiving they had $2 nachos and $2 hotdogs. My son gorged himself on those.

The last two times I've gone to Hawthorne with my laptop, and those old fogies act like they've never seen it before.

Speaking of, they have free Wifi so if your kids get restless, bring the laptop or tablet and turn on some Netflix to keep 'em busy.

Must depend on the day and location. I was shocked at the number of lappers and tablets I saw in the gold cup room last week. I too thought that hawthorne would be the last place I would ever see that stuff. Apparently not.

Also one of the managers stopped at our table to chat. We asked him when are they going to replace their antiquated machines. Did not get a clear answer to that one.

I was at Hawthorne today, and a 40-1 shot won the finale, and yours truly had a few $$ on him.
