Post subject:  Kid Question...this should be good

When i was a kid, if I was ever cute or dropped a cute comment, I can promise you it was not intentionally said.

I think what makes a funny/cute/etc comment is a kids brutal honesty, whether that honesty is good or bad, the truth from a kid is what is usually funny.

Yet, today I see a ton of kids trying to make funny cute comments. They actually say things looking for a response, like they know what they just said is supposed to get a reaction?

Not sure if this is from Nickolodeon shows? despicable me movies? parents treating kids like adults at age 5? or am i just wrong on this one...

Lets go to caller Joe..

"I have been a parent for 17 years so I know what I am talking about...."

thoughts?

its more basic then that. 1) cameras are everywhere, and from age 1 kids are trained to pose. 2) girls are getting preggers before they even have a single job skill, let alone an idea what it takes to raise a family. 3) no more dads around to tell kids to shut the fuck up.

i was an 80's baby. we were ignored until the cocaine wore off, and by then the parents were passed out while were in the living room playing atari.

Parents don't talk to their kids they patronize them, so that's how kids learn to behave. Nobody will say anything negative to their kids any more because they don't want to hurt their self esteem. They act like everything they say is funny, cute, a great observation, so that what kids expect. In about 25 years the whole world is going to speak like Laurence Holmes because of it. Telling boring mundane stories about everyday occurrences that the world should be fascinated by. All just MO.

What is considered negative and something that may hurt a kid's self esteem?

Post subject:  Re: Kid Question...this should be good

it's the fundamental exhibitionism of "social media" (a redundant term if i ever heard one. and btw i love that the oldschool media has declared anything that gets popular outside of its proper channels/mechanisms as "viral", cuz you know, something becoming pop culture without a proper media gatekeeper there to let it out is clearly a virus that's destroying the very fabric of our society!!!!!!)

ahem. tangents...my bad. but yeah it's the fundamental exhibitionism inherent to social media. "all the world's a stage" has never been truer than now, as parents having to work more and more hours/jobs = less stay-at-home moms/dads and more TVs/internets raising kids and therefore everyone has been compelled to go out there and open up their veritable trenchcoat and show the world their junk, and part of the whole #YOLO #SWAG thing is that these little shits are getting fed all this post-PC/feminist/SJW/participation-trophy crap where it's like HEY YOU YES YOU YOU'RE A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE SO YOU NEED TO GET A FACEBOOK AND A TWITTER AND TELL US ALL ABOUT HOW AWESOME YOU ARE!!!! COMEON IT'S 2013 YOU'LL BE A WEIRDO IF YOU'RE THE ONE KID WITHOUT A CONSTANTLY-UPDATED FACEBOOK WITH TONS OF PICTURES AND LIKES!!!!!

so basically nowadays kids have been turned into exhibitionists so they're more prone to act out/the-fool and justify any dumbass behaviour with #YOLO/#SWAG!!!!! as part of the great societal conditioning program that is facebook is getting people to voluntarily give up any and all privacy by putting their entire life on the internet so should TPTB ever need to get a quick dossier on people BLAM go to their facebook get admin axs to see the geolocation stamps originating from what IP address and then you know everything about someone without having to do any research.......

so yeah, as the middle class slowly but surely fades out of existence and we end up living in a world where a few people own everything and the rest are permitted to live in some residental zones with cheap beer/weed to keep them stoned/drunk and oblivious to things like, example, you don't own any land or have a pension.... but hey at least you've got an iphone7 with 50gb storage and tons of cool mp3s which are great to play when you're hanging out with your buddies watching wrestlemania while drinking a 12er of some import beer!

and uhhh, you gotta start programming these kids early.... so getting them buying into the "social media" exhibitionism scene is part and parcel to getting them to be good citizens with nothing to hide because, literally, it's all out there in public cuz they gotta show the world their #SWAG cuz #YOLO.

and for what little it's worth, working in the kids dept of a library from 97-04 i can tell you that i watched a 1/2 generation of kids get progressively dumber/more-hyper/etc..... so whether the ADHD/aspergers revolution was brought about by some growth hormones in our food / flouride in our water, or whether it's just the last vestiges of the hunter-gatherer mentality of humanity fading away as we all become sedentary consumers.... yeah i can tell you that kids are getting worse and that's prolly because there's no more time for mom and dad to install "traditional family values" cuz the tv/interent is raising the kids while mom and dad both work 2+ jobs just in order to have a house/condo... it aint like it was from the new/square deal until the early 80s where the general social contract was "graduate highschool, keep your nose clean, and work hard and you can have a piece of the american dream" --- now it's like "fuck you, we don't owe you anything. you better go to a good college and pray to whatever god you believe in, cuz if you dont want this shitty part time job that doesnt provide a living wage well hey there's 50 other people who will gladly take it so fuck off cuz we don't owe you anything"

yeah, so the change in the social contract taking away a lot of traditional parenting/values combined with the state of today's digital exhibitionist culture added to the endgame of the PC/feminist/SJW/you're-a-special-snowflake movements = all these kids think they're awesome and the world needs to know it so they clap their hands and show it. and they're getting dumber and dumber and smellier and smellier... trust me on that one.

People don't tell their kids they are wrong and most don't have true or effective consequences for bad behavior. It's all use your words so I can make it better. Are your kids doing that emotional class at school? It's stupid.

wait.... biggie, you actually got the joke there? you saw the meta-trolling i was doing with that post? YOU CAUGHT THE FUNDAMENTAL IRONY?!?!?!

my brother was put on ritalin/imipramine/cylert/dexedrine/etc starting circa age 5-6, and suffice to say the neurologist kept asking my mom to bring me in (cuz those visits aint cheap) but i refused..... so yeah i fall into that category too.

but man, big picture here.... if ppl start getting my jokes in wholly inconvenient posting-as-performance-art format....i might have to retire from the board cuz it's not that fun if you lot are in on the joke!

So Don,are you saying there are certain classes of people on this board?
I think you are trying to pave the way for OKC's return? You're his frontman right? badrogue17 cracked a joke,I really don't see how every 3rd comment by somebody brings out your bitching about peoples intelligence. I respect your thoughts and enjoy your humor. I also enjoy BadRogue.

SEL, Social Emotional Learning, my friend. A special teacher comes in and discusses difficult emotions. Think of a time when you were sad, angry, etc. How did you deal with it? What are some ways to cope, here are some books. Okay kids don't hurt anybody. Everybody is happy all the time.

One of the grandfathers took one look at the paper and said What the fuck is this liberal crackpot bullshit? You guys really have no choice for your kids it's either these guys brainwashing your kids or the Catholics.

We had that in grade school when I moved to Wisconsin, but just called it "guidance." I found it pretty hippy-dippy for a bunch of nine/ten-year-olds. I think the better time for learning to handle and negotiate emotions would be during puberty, when kids are hormoned out of their fucking minds.

Get rid of recess & extracurricular activites, where the kids learn actual social skills (in favor of continued teaching to the test), and I guess this should be an expected next development. Shameful.

Special teacher for everything. Every single kid I know under age 10 sees a therapist for something. yes, EVERY single one of them. At least those that can afford it.

At a house Friday and the Therapist was walking in, She had 4 Large plastic containers of learning aids for the 2 year old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
