On July 24, 2013, it was announced that MGM has offered Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler to direct a spinoff of Rocky. The film will focus on a man following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Apollo Creed, and getting a mentor in the now-retired Rocky Balboa. Michael B. Jordan has been offered the role of Creed's grandson, and Stallone will reprise his character of Rocky, in a script co-written by Coogler and Aaron Covington.[1]

Rocky balboa was a nice way to end it. They order from best to worst is probably the order they were released. One of the last non kid movies I saw in the theater.

Rocky Balboa was way better than Rocky V.

Can't disagree with ES, though I haven't seen Rocky Balboa.

As I mentioned in the other thread, though somewhat facetiously, I think the musical score had a lot to do with the franchise's success, particularly the original movie. Everyone knows the "Gonna Fly Now" theme, but the entire soundtrack is phenomenal and evokes the feel of blue-collar Philly in the 70s.

I think Rocky deserved its win for Best Picture, despite most people arguing it should have been Taxi Driver. However, the sequels were just retreads of the same formula.

Rocky I and II were the best. III was OK. The rest kind of sucked.

Original Rocky was by far the best movie. But Rocky IV will always be my personal favorite. I am sure it has a lot to do with my age when it came out and how I was in awe of watching in in the big theater.

Rocky V was easily the worst of the movies, but it still had some funny stuff in it.

I was pleasantly surprised with how good Rocky Balboa was. I thought it was a nice capstone to the series.

Loved the training sequence in III. Very ocean-dancy.

Saw IV as a yout' with the boys so it also has a special place.

I never understood how Rocky got smart in Rocky III. Like all of a sudden he was well spoken. Doesn't make sense. He should have been dumber after all the hits he took. Then they made him dumb again in the final two movies.
