Earl really gave no explanation and it wasnt a sudden issue, as he was gone for about 5 days prior to the game.

I know things happen in life, but when you get paid to play 16 games a year. They pay you Millions to play and not let anything get in your way.

That's bullshit. He's not a slave to the team. If his parents were ill or death the a close relative is imminent he should take off if he wants. He doesn't owe the team anything. They'll kick him to the curb anytime they feel like it and probably this offseason.

Personally, I would not miss a game unless death of spouse or child.

Bennett's playing meant something to the team.........Thibs's coaching means absolutely nothing :o

We all have people we consider important enough to miss time for UNLESS you're Adrian Peterson.

Thibs: coaching the bulls makes watching my dad dying seem like hitting the lottery.

He's paid to play 16 games, yet missed some due to injury and now skips out on a game he could have played in. I'm more old-school about these kinds of things. I would have him packing now. He would never play for me again. Not only because of his decision to miss the game, but because he's not that good either. Guys who are hanging onto a job by a thread, can't afford to to things like this.

Thibs is just doing what I would expect he might. His commitment to his team is 100%. Often when one loses a loved one, it's easier to continue doing their job than to take time off. Time spent playing /coaching allows that person to escape for the time the games are being played. They have to give their focus to the game and that takes their mind off the loss they have experienced, if only for a short time. I don't tell anyone else how they should grieve.

He played the week before. I have no idea what is going on with his brother but it probably got worse. His family is more important than a game. I couldn't imagine putting a job above being their for a close relative when they were dying or extremely sick.

At least there'd be a longshot chance at a miracle.
