http://omg.yahoo.com/news/duck-dynasty- ... 04400.html Less than two weeks after Phil Robertson's anti-gay controversy got him temporarily suspended from his A&E reality series, the 67-year-old "Duck Dynasty" star is making headlines once again. In a newly surfaced 2009 video posted on YouTube, Robertson shares some of his dating advice, which includes that men should marry girls as young as 15. "Make sure that she can cook a meal," Robertson is heard telling a group in Georgia in the 2009 video. "You need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out." PHOTOS: Duck Dynasty: Scenes & Stars "Make sure she carries her Bible," the reality star continued. "That'll save you a lot of trouble down the road. And if she picks your ducks, now, that's a woman." According to Robertson, for men to successfully find the right woman, the man should make sure she's young. "They got to where they getting hard to find, mainly because these boys are waiting 'til they get to be about 20 years old before they marry them," Robertson said at the time. "Look, you wait 'til they get to be 20 years old the only picking that's going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They'll pick your ducks. You need to check with mom and dad about that, of course." According to E!, in Robertson's home state of Louisiana, it is legal to marry at 16 with the consent of the minor's parents. |

Respect his opinions, I'm guessing god came to him and told him to say that. |

Quote: "Make sure that she can cook a meal," You need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out." This isn't that outlandish of a statement. Each person in the relationship should be able to cook at least one absolutely outstanding dinner by the time they are say about 21.

You don't want to wait until they become juniors or seniors. Very rarely will you find a late bloomer. |

I've never seen even 5 minutes of the show itself, but the media attention on these slackjawed bumpkins make them impossible to ignore. I wish they'd all fall into a woodchipper. |

I'm trying to figure out why any of this matters even within the scope of people watching the show. That Paul Walker guy who ran himself into a street pole was nailing 16 year olds for most of his adult life and people set up shrines to him. There have been several details of how Hollywood is a pedophilic ring. This guy's words aren't causing people to go out looking for 15 year olds and there is no evidence that he does it himself. They are just words with zero meaning attached. |

I don't know about digging up a 2009 video but he actually discussed this on an actual episode. Think hw was giving advice to one of his grandsons? He was referencing his experience of being in early 60's and being 18 and his wife to be was 15. Pretty sure that wasn't uncommon in LA in 1965? |

Starting QB at La tech was Phil Robertson. Phil left his senior year to go hunting and fishing, leaving an opening at QB for ....Terry Bradshaw! Actually heard the story from Bradshaw on some TV show years ago, said they guy went to start some Duck call company. Bradshaw claimed Robertson could have played in the NFL if he did. You know this just entrenches his thoughts more and more into the fine people of the state of La and the surrounding areas. People who dont live the life he did, keep trying to bring this guy down and it just props him up more and more. |

It is what it is. You can't separate people from their experiences. It's like when Reverend Wright says, "Goddamn America!" and white people are taken aback. I think he has the right. It's his experience. I haven't walked in his shoes. We had an interesting interaction on our own esteemed board between Darkside and Regular Reader just last week. It wasn't a matter of either guy being right or wrong. They just have differing perspectives. |

I'm highlighting how silly it is to excuse or even celebrate bigotry and possibly pedophilia because we didn't walk in someone else shoes. People that commit the extreme acts I listed above also believe we should excuse and "understand" why they did it. It's a bullshit crutch to give him. He's had the opportunity to change his views like a lot of people have. He's made the choice to hate. Hatred stirreth up strifes but love covereth all sins. |

i dont think wanting to be with a 15yo girl makes you a pedo... far from it. many 15yo girls have full body maturity. whats the problem for me is wanting to MARRY a 15 yo.. i dont care which one, nobody at 15 is mature enough to decide who they should be with the rest of their life. honestly, i wish the marriage laws would change from 18 to 25... but thats a whole other debate. if youre a grown ass man and you think its fun to hang out with a 15 year old girl, then youre not mature and the last thing you need to be doing is getting married. |
