My wife got tickets. My attendance is required for this Saturday night. I think someone here must have gone at least once. Any help on attire and a place nearby for dinner would be great. Or just pound away at me. |

wear a sport coat. dress pants, dress shoes. you won't be the best dressed, but won't stick out either. lot of places to eat downtown, I would count on taking a cab to/from restaurant and opera house. there is nothing worthwhile eating at within a few blocks of opera anyway. metra is a block from opera house. |

I'm never doing Oprah. But something tells me that JORR has a great story or two about both. |

there is a huge scrolling translation screen which you will watch the entire time, so don't worry about actually having to watch the opera itself. |

Its one thing just to suck, but it JUST TOOK SO LONG! 3-4 years ago? Maybe more? went once. Act I, 1 hour, then like 30 min break, then Act II for another Hour, then another 1/2 hour break, Going into Act II it was like 9:15-9:30 and she tells me there is a Third Act for another 60 to 90 Minutes. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I swear I almost broke up with her right there! Ended it about 3 weeks later....and this didnt help if this was going to be any part of my future life. Really doesnt matter where you go to dinner. Lloyds, Avec, Cocos, etc because it will all be ruined by the most boring 3-4 hours of your life. I am getting chills just remembering this period of time in my life! I sure you really get something out of this. Like a HALL PASS! |

Have been several times. Yeah Sat is going to be a tough go,too bad you are not going Friday,Madam Butterfly. Jacket and tie is a must otherwise you will get the dirtiest of looks entire night. Food wise the best food will not be open, the Deli on the 3rd floor. I wold recommend for a nice fancy evening going to the Russian Tea room.http://russianteatime.com/ or one of the Brazilian Steak houses over near Ontario st My personal fav is Foga De Chao |
